Arsenal have historically been a huge underperformer in Europe though, it’s not just Arteta - 1 cup winners cup for Englands 3rd most successful side is poor.

I don't think it’s a just CL issue , we haven’t really looked as stable at the back this season and are still lacking an out and out goal scorer.
Hopefully it will all come good as the season goes on.
Im not one to criticise individual players normally but I am struggling to see what Havertz has brought to our game, perhaps he needs to sit on the bench for a few games and be brought on later in games where were in charge, this might ease the pressure on him.

Far too early to judge Arteta in CL. We’ve had 2 games. We were great against PSV, and obviously we were awful in the Lens game. But was probably harder than we expected, they’ve got a great home record and finished 2nd last season, so was never going to be a stroll in the park we expected before kick off. Not an excuse though, as we were well off the standard. But it’s not a disaster yet, still got plenty of games to get top spot.

Europa was disappointing however, but I’ll wait and see how he does in CL before fully judging. We’re a much improved team since our last Europa outing so hopefully we won’t have a Europa style letdown in the CL.

The Lens atmosphere was surprisingly vociferous and intimidating, it didn't even get quieter when we went one up. Combine that with Saka going off injured when he's the jewel of the team and poor selection and substitutions from Arteta (both reactive and poor choices) and you get beaten.

All those things and having one eye on the Man City game led to the poor performances, not excusing them but just the way I see it.

I think our players still mentally fear Man City as well so when that game is coming up on the horizon they get nervous.
