The JFA Pledge for 2050, which lays out the path for Japan to win the football World Cup, is a deeply thought out project, and going by the current trajectory of the team appears more feasible everyday.
If Southgate wants England to qualify for Euro 2028 through the offical channels without the automatic place at the tournament, why can’t Japan take that automatic qualification spot instead? If Southgate and England are prepared to stick two fingers up to football and the process like this, what reason why Japan couldn’t find their way into the tournament?
Numerous Japanese players play in the Bundesliga, and I can see that continuing and spreading to other European leagues. The influx of Japanese players into Celtic was partly due to their Australian head coach Ange Postecoglou, who joined the club from Yokohama F. Marinos and knows the J. League very well… at some point the wider football community will need to accept that Japan will become the biggest force in football, allowing entry into Euro 28 will be the catalyst that starts the inevitable rise of Japan, winning that tournament will provide another automatic place at Euro 32.

UEFA already has countries in it that are in Asia. COPA America invites a non-member to reach tournament (usually Mexico). UEFA could do the same and invite Japan. Japan have improved a lot and have beaten Germany 4-1.
