What about those ones where you're a goal up, their keeper has gone to the other rjd, you break and all you have to do is roll it into an empty net?

How so? That's easier than scoring a penalty and tbh I wasn't actually aware of this new scoring system so just ranking the goals in order of credence.

What about if the ball ricochet off you and in. That's easier than a penalty. Do they count or are we scrubbing those off too?

Well nobody said anything about goals not counting except upset Liverpool fans. All goals count but some are easier to score than others, with penalties being pretty much the one side of the spectrum. They are like gimmes to any striker/forward worth his salt and because they are given regularly they can help pad a player's scoring stats.

Probably more a case of you trying to crow bar a Spurs player in….

To be fair, there’s something to be said about a player who can reliably score high-pressure PKs.

One of the reasons why I decided Messi was better than Ronaldo after the World Cup, was how assuredly he scored those 5 kicks in the QFs, SFs & Final (3 regulation; 2 shootouts).

Penalties were always a weakness for Messi before. But he settled that score in the biggest way.

No, but you get to take them if you're really good at them and they are a site harder than many give credit for. Messi missed loads, the most ever I think.

To suggest that for some reason they don't count or are not worth as much, which is what happened, is a bit daft if we're honest and the history books support this.

I mean has anyone even ever, anywhere, bothered to create a top scorers from open play award or anything? No.

Guy was insane. Surely has to have the best numbers by a free kick taker ever? I know a couple of goalies have crazy pen/free kick numbers but I'd think his stats were better. Jorginho but I think I spelt his name wrong.

Google says he scored 77 free kicks! 😎
