you just know he will pick taylor despite last two performances.

I think Gordon will be in too, better than either Kelly or Clark

I do agree. Gordon is our best keeper but he needs to be fit. If he is fit and gets his starting place back at Hearts then does Zander Clark drop out?

Who I would take.

GK
Gunn
Gordon
McCrorie

Clark isn't good enough, same for Kelly. The 3 above are more talented but McCrorie would need a move in January to have a chance.

DEF
Robertson
Doig
Tierney
Cooper
Porteous
Hendry
McKenna
Hickey
Patterson

Hanley misses out but i prefer the other CBs. Taylor misses out because he's looked out of his depth recently.

MID
McTominay
McGinn
McGregor
Gilmour
Jack
Armstrong
Ferguson

Jack is more useful than McLean.

FW
Adams
Dykes
Christie
Shankland

If either Anthony Gordon or Harvey Barnes sign up to play for us then Shankland or Christie / Armstrong would need the boot.

Don't mind the Souttar over Doig shout. Depends what Clarke needs and on their form.

Sadly I think he will select Gregg Taylor as he is one of his favourites from their Kilmarnock days. Taylor is a very poor defender especially at any level above the SPFL level.

Doig isn't coming from nowhere to steal a place when there's Robbo, KT & Hickey ahead of him at LB even before we debate Taylor! I can't see GT getting on the plane - not at the level, no positional flexibility, too much cover at his sole position if they all get fit.

Still think Doak is the only possible uncapped dark horse but he'll need to be playing regularly and there's no sign of that. Actually, a Jan loan might do him good but suspect Klopp will see him as too important a backup especially when Salah is at AFCON.

What will be awkward is if Clark is playing for hearts but Gordon is picked ahead of him

Doig was in the last squad.

Unless he was hopeless in training he's got to be ahead of Taylor.

We will probably take 3 LBs because Tierney will be primarily used as a LCB. He's the 3rd best.

Hickey and Patterson on the right for Scotland.

Not a stick on by any means but bar Robertson the other 3 full backs are regularly injured.

Doak is clearly a huge talent but hasn't done a thing yet when he's had his chances. Would need to explode onto the scene for Liverpool.

Well I guess Doig was absolutely useless in training then?

I still maintain tournament squad he'll want flexibility so yes, KT will likely be used as a CB but he can cover LB comfortably and he's still our 2nd best LB. Hickey is probably the incumbent RB but can cover LB too so I expect neither Doig nor Taylor will travel.

Much more likely he takes Ralston (I know ) to cover the right side where we have less flex. McT, Porteous, Hendry can all fill in there though less experienced in that position. Thank fook we are past the stage of trying to shoehorn Ryan Fraser in there though.

Doak hasn't done a thing yet, I agree but he has explosive pace which is something we don't really have anywhere outside our FBs and that's why I rate him a dark horse. There will be friendlies leading up to the champs and he might get a chance?

Adams has pace but doesn't get a chance to utilise it chasing hopeful punts. Dykes is just brute force turns like a tanker and Shankland's pace is over half a yard. We don't have any out and out wingers. Christie is the nearest and no manager has used him out there. All our width tends to come from FB. So I think Doak has a way bigger chance that Doig to offer something different and let's face it we will likely be chasing games if our midfield doesn't score.

Ryan Jack has came back from being with Scotland with an injury, again . He should be ruling himself out of the Euros if he wants a new contract

I'd definitely have Harvey Barnes. I suspect he would replace Lewis Ferguson
_____________________________

Ferguson plays as a 10 for Bologna whereas I believe Barnes plays out wide for his club. Possibly room for both?

Clarke isn't afraid to blood someone new just before a tournament - Gilmour only made his debut in the friendlies immediately prior to the last tournament we competed in.
