Do boycotts of big corps work?

Recently on the news that Starbucks and H&M may have to leave Morocco due to the declining sales due to people boycotting them over the recent conflict. The Kuwaiti company that has the right to run the brands in Morocco just came out a few minutes ago saying they are not closing up. But sales have been hit with many who work at Starbucks are worried about losing their jobs. In Egypt there was news of Starbucks downsizing due to the lack of sales.

This brings me back to United. Would a massive boycott have worked for United when the Glazers took over or over the past few years would have helped and forced them to sell?

Is it because hard core fans have been replaced by day trippers and the prawn sandwich brigade? What would make you boycott the club if there had to be something?

I don't think even if Qatar or Saudi took over there would be a boycott or a change. We've seen fans of clubs such as Newcastle, City, PSG and the government and leagues in these countries welcome them with open arms.

Or does Boycotts only work on a smaller businesses and clubs only?

The European Super League episode suggested that club owners are more twitchy about fans exerting pressure on sponsors than boycotting matches.

Won't work because most of our fans are in Poland or Birmingham or the US and nowhere near Manchester
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you cant boycott a United match in Poland or Birmingham. It can only be done in The Borough of Trafford.

Not really true is it?

A boycott isn't just ticket sales.
It's merchandise, TV money, all of the publicly available goods with the Manchester United branding.

Why don't those fans just go and support Lech PoznaƄ, or LA Galaxy, or Birmingham City. They have no connection to Manchester anyway.

LOL

A match boycott involves boycotting a match.

I know what the other poster said.
What's the point in boycotting a match if you aren't boycotting anything else?

Ticket sales are a small profit compared to everything else. Thought somebody with your intellect would know that.

DJ is boycotting this place and it's only gone from strength to strength

Some JA606ers could always boycott logging into a dodgy illegal match stream on your phone in your bedroom and stop posting crap on a match thread.

Should bring down the Glazers.
