Post match thread

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned him but surely we will clap eyes on the lesser spotted Kieran Dowell in the next couple of games.

I did notice that although Dowell wasnt on the bench against StMirren at Ibrox the other week he was out on the pitch warming up with the team beforehand.

Dowell has been good when he's played but he's another than we won't be able to rely upon which will make him a bad signing.

Sterling will surely come in in midfield or as extra defender. He did last weekend

Don’t see both Cantwell and Lammers playing that’d be a disaster. Aberdeen found too much space between our defence and midfield last time with two actual cms playing

A right footer that can play on the left too. Seems to be made of glass, but thought he’d been fit so strange we’ve not seen him

I thought Sterling brought a bit of energy and industry when he came on. But it was pretty clear to me that he isnt a midfield player in a million years. He was all over the place positionally and didnt seem to know his role.

I wouldnt call him a bombscare but I would say he would bring an element of risk playing teams of a higher standard than Dundee.

That said I wouldnt be too worried if he played against Aberdeen. Their midfield is built around Shinnie who I think is a horrific footballer who couldnt get a game with League 1 Wigan. Having someone with a bit of energy and unpredictability that will get in about them might help break up some of the dull repeating patterns we see in games against Aberdeen.

Agree he’s not a midfielder but easily offers more than playing both Lammers and Cantwell in midfield. Like to think in a bigger game he’d play deeper and could do that job.

With Aberdeen playing two up top, and one dropping off they found it too easy to break and find space. Would be happy with Sterling as third centre back for that reason, and allow Tav and Barisic to be more attacking without worrying about leaving 2 v2.

Agree I thoguth he was emptying space in midfield by being in areas he shouldnt have been , he was very lucky not to give away a pen with a very rash tackle again out of position. it may work better against Betis in a packed midfield and on the back foot.

May also prefer the three at the back with Sterling as oppose to playing him in midfield.
