Alonso

The best manager we’ve had since Shanks and Bob Paisley is leaving us. I wish him well, wherever he goes. End of a fantastic rollercoaster ride with the man.

I understand that Pep is leaving too; he would have been my first choice. There are several replacements who spring to mind, including Emery and the Brighton man, each excellent managers who enjoy success.

But for me, Xabi, although I don’t think he ever played under JK would be my choice.

Pep has to be persuaded - at gun point if need be - to continue in the same role. Not “continuity” a la Hamsa Youseff of the SNP ‘in Scotland. That, I’m sure was a misspelling. It should have read: “dead albatross.”

So he’s not leaving for at least another 18 months.

I’m pretty sure he would have left last Summer if he thought City were guilty

More like if he lost confidence in the clubs top flight lawyers…

Amazing how quickly the fans have turned on Gerrard, no loyalty these days
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody’s turned against Stevie G and no Red ever will. To be the manager of our club there has to be success success along the way, like Meintz5 and B Dortmund. Stevie hasn’t enjoyed that success.

End of.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Rodgers, Hodgson, Houllier, Evans, Souness and Dalglish, Fagan, Paisley and Shankly ... none of these had won a major league title as full time manager prior to taking the Liverpool job... in fact none of your post-War managers bar Benítez and Klopp had.

Alonso is in a good position to be a league winner this season.

I would never ever give it to linders.

He just wouldn't make the cut at all.

I'm going to bet that if he's given a shake by an english club he flops. I see no presence and he doesn't really strike me as a guy to keep a group together. a bit too blunt imo.

He hasn't won it yet though, and that hasn't stopped the fans talking him up as candidate.

The bottom line is you don't have to have a great track record of success to be named Liverpool manager, and plenty of appointments prove it. Hell, Klopp's 0redecessor's greatest feat was guiding Swansea to a playoff spot or some such.
