Todd Kline gone

Todd Kline sacked/stepped down whatever.

Has been an absolute failure surely?

His role was to get a stadium naming partner which we still don't have.

Wonder what happened and was he pushed or jumped.

think the athletic said something about us not wanting to secure name rights because leaving them available is more attractive to buyers
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Its defo a theory. Any buyer/investor will want the ability to add value to their investment and this is a clear area for that, and probably more secured means than hoping to increased value through success on the pitch, which is often more fickle and unpredictable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you are assuming alot there. Not sure what the Emirates add to Woolwich for example. But they get their exposure by being assoicated to one of the biggest clubs in the best league in the world. The same as any other club partner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsenal get £50m a year for Stadium & Shirt.

Spurs get £40m a year from AIA for their shirt. Emirates are therefore paying about £10m a season for the Stadium.

Spurs could easily pick up a Stadium sponsor in that range, but want something 2 or 3 times as big.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't he wants 2 or 3 times as big. Just around £30m a year or slightly higher.

I have a theory the stadium naming rights deal has been put on hold until new investors are found.

Having a multi year stadium deal will only increase the value of the club and in turn any potential investment.

Maybe Levy wants the two to be intertwined?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That could be right although I doubt it's on-hold, probably just not the right time. As a brand we are not quite at a level that will secure the really top names. Also, we're just starting to really maximise the stadium use but as that develops the stadium becomes more recognisable and will have an established record of hosting PL football, NFL, Beyonce, Boxing. The appeal and exposure needs to be as broad as possible and we're not there yet IMO, and its probably the football side that needs to improve to make us an exciting partner for a big sponsor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The stadium has been in use for two seasons. We have hosted more than enough events to attract a sponsors, should we find one who ticks all of Levy's boxes.

Don't forget we can only host a certain amount of non footballing events due to council restrictions.

The question is how much would a naming rights deal increase the value of the club?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just in layman's terms alone £25m extra a year would mean the gap between us and Liverpool in annual revenues would be something like only £20-£25m or so.

Not to be sniffed at surely?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. We get around £10m a year from Cinch which is for the sleeve.

"to achieve that we need to be in an optimum position across the whole club, which we aint!"

How do you mean?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Go back 1 year and we were a mess on the pitch, grumpy fan base, protests, fairly poor media profile.

The stadium other uses were ramping up and the stadium is an amazing place so this was all very positive and I am sure partners would have few issues aligning with us on that basis.

But for top value, we need to be better on the football side and until the last 6 months its been a mess since 2019

Thats what i mean. Emirate are effectively paying £10m to Arsenal for the stadium if the shirt part of their £50m deal is equivalent to ours. So we want £25-£30m (2-3 times) for the stadium on top of the shirts @ £40m.

Any prospective buyer will look at the landscape of the Prem League, as will Levy, and pay what we are worth.

I doubt Levy is waiting for us to become champions before securing a deal. It's all about eyeballs.

We are still playing in the most watched league in the world. As long as we are selling out now, without any trophies or success that's not going to change much.

Yes a trophy or two will help massively but Levy is realistic enough to admit trophies are a bonus. European football is never a given. Business first with Levy.

Where Levy is looking for that top level money, we need to appear top level. No brand wants to be associated with a club which looks like a shambles, as we have for a while. So everything needs to be in good order if we want the money Levy wants.

We also do not want to undersell for such a long commitment.

Apart from the season we have been playing in Europe constistently and apart from Covid we have been selling out. Last season was a shambles on the pitch but the stadium has been doing it's bit on the balance sheet and in terms of raising our profile with the events.

But I still think Levy is holding out for an investment before pushing the button on a naming rights deal. Not waiting for football success. Time will tell.

I don't think its trophies necessarily, its just raised profile with us being in the UCL and back challenging for stuff. One of the big players, something we have not been since 2019 !
