Wataru Endo

When I first heard his name, I thought, I’m sure like many others, “Who?"
JK was being somewhat humiliated by the press, following the unsuccessful (thank you, Jesus) attempt to sign Ceiceido from BHA for £115M, the superstar presumably desperate to enjoy the delights of London.

Jurgen, clearly angry, sought to justify the purchase (£16.5M?), quoting stats from the BundesLeague showing what Endo can do on the field. First on damn near everything, but the press wasn’t buying it.

So, like many other fans I’m sure, I sat back and watched. Wow! Like JK says, the man likes a tackle! His first game - got left behind, no question, the game passed him bye. Now? Undroppable. As certain a name of the team sheet as VvD, Mac Mo and, I have to say, before many other names are picked.

It’s what he does off the ball when he hasn’t got it. Always always putting himself in a position to take possession. More importantly, either a ball OR a player gets past him, seldom both.

Seldom gets mentioned, always given good ratings though. He may be 31 years old, but there’s plenty left in the tank in him. Defo one for next year too.

Completely overrated. Master of backward passes. A downgrade on Jordan Henderson

I'm one of those that didn't judge him too early. Not surprised tbh. Klopp rarely signs turrds.

klopp managed to get chelsea to spend 171 mil on two average players and spend 111on 3 worldies

szobo as Hungarian superstar has been good
macallister as a real world cup winner has been sensational
endo as Japanese captain has shown how to be a 6.

not too bad when thry pulled back in nearly 60mil out of Saudi for decrepit cast offs.

For what we paid for Jorginho he's been a good signing put someone next to him with legs then he's quality he can control a game from deep it's one of the reasons why we have been so dominate in games since January including the game against Liverpool.

In fairness I would have felt like a full strength Liverpool may have made that far more of a contest.

Coincidentally there's a flattering piece on Endo today in the Liverpool Echo by Ian Doyle, including a complimentary remark on Endo and Mac Allister by Guardiola:

"Indeed, Endo's constant willingness to make progressive passes was noted by Pep Guardiola, who later claimed the midfield partnership between the Japan international and Mac Allister contributed to a subtle change in Liverpool's approach that City struggled to cope with:

'After the first half it was difficult because with Endo and Mac Allister they have extra passes and the quality to play – before, they were more direct – without losing how direct they can be in transitions,' said the City boss.

Commenting on the Echo article, one reader says: "I am really proud of Endo's never-give-up mentality and his warrior approach in every game. I just wish Gakpo has half of his attitude." -- Amen to that.

VVD Will likely get our player of the season but AMA and Endosan both deserve to be in that conversation.
