The Best Era?

Some comments on a different thread got me thinking, what was the best era for Leeds United and based on what?

As shown on here, the chatter at the ground, social media the way we base our opinions on football comes from a personal view point. which means the best era or the most enjoyable era is drawn from our own experience.

my first years of supporting Leeds, about 10, the Wilkinson years, champions of the old division one was pretty much my first season, I had no prior experiences of where we were or the journy to get there, so while as brilliant it was, felt more the norm.

The O'leary Days, about 20 ish, amazing, champions league games, old enough to drink in pubs but still, all I'd ever known was Leeds a top tier team, Europe sometimes, flat mid-table a lot of seasons, at the age where I'm watching the games in pubs etc, good times.

the Beilsa years, this point I've seen us -15 League one, the laughing stock almost, the fall from grace, slowly climb back to the second tier but nothing special, was more aware of owners and finances too, (aware, not understood) fans divided, club divided - when Bielsa took over, it was almost like the phoenix rise from the ashes, we had this momentum and Bielsa at the helm.

Often wonder what the Revie years must have been like to live through, and wonder if in the future, if we'd ever be seriously competing at the top again? with the vast riches in football that are around its difficult to say

That CL run in 00-01 was impressive, overturned a good deportivo side before being battered by Valencia, was surprised how well you did it that campeign

The period of 99-02 was great for Leeds. I knew quite a few Leeds fans back then and it felt like you were getting better and better but ultimately the off-field issues killed it all off.

Around that same time Liverpool had a bit of a resurgence, but to me Leeds were always better than them in terms of entertaining football and the players Leeds had.

You are obviously too young to remember the '64 - '74 era then.

Surely it's the 70s under Don Revie, no?

Ok, best era … so for me the question is whether we’re talking factually, from a ‘winning things’ perspective (in which case there’s no argument - Revie’s) or from a personal point of view, in which case I really enjoyed the League 1 era (believe it or not) as me and the lad could always get tickets to games , few pints in the Peacock, then Billy’s Bar then in the Paddock before the game and then again at half time (๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿป) - seriously though, them were good times๐Ÿ‘.

Totally agree Light, those L1 days certainly hold a place with us somewhere

The Revie era was unparalleled for the number of occasions we beat the S©um and I could safely turn up at school and lord it over their supporters. After the 5-1 win in 1972, many of their fans were deeply traumatised, only recovering when we sold Cantona to them for a pittance.
