I just love.............

articles like this.

With all the doom and gloom of recent seasons, nice to hark back to the 'good old days' - a different era, but even Fergie has mellowed over time.

Sharpey looked like he was going to be a great player for us, but a mixture of injury and battling against the likes of Giggs, Kanchelskis and Beckham didn't help his chances. Still won a hatful of medals and loved his Elvis-style mic celebrations

I guess gone are the days of picking up a teenager from Torquay..................

"Me and Ryan Giggs were running around in circles not knowing who to mark. The game was passing us by. At half-time, he said, in not so many words, 'you are absolutely useless'.

"'Tomorrow, you're going to sell your house, sell your dog, sell your car. You send your girlfriend back to Birmingham, you're back in digs'.

"Obviously, I didn't play great, came off with about 20 minutes to go, went home, told my girlfriend she had to go home. That was the end of that.

"Then every week he would come up to me in training and ask, 'are you married yet?' I'm like, married? You sent my girlfriend home!"

There will never be another football manager like Fergie ever again man.

Don’t think it was just injuries and competition with Sharpe. Great talent and at times was being picked over Giggs but ultimately lacked the mental strength and professionalism to be at the level Ferguson required. Sad to hear on the Quickly Kevin podcast he did a while back that Ferguson wasn’t speaking to him and he wasn’t too sure why, Ferguson seems to hold grudges with a lot of people who didn’t do things his way.

Then grown ups were expected to "paren"t and those they were in charge of had a health fear for authority. I dought fergie would care to do so know given attitudinal change in society

With Giggs and the class of 92 coming through, I think SAF felt he could let him go along with Ince and Kanchelskis.

Will always remember his goal against Arsenal in league cup which we won 6-2, with his weaker right foot right into the top corner..........probably would have been row Z in 9 out of 10 attempts

Will always remember the

That's a beauty. Imagine a manager trying that these days with some of our players?

I saw Sharpe tell this story with Bryan Robson instead of Roy Keane. The fact Robson wasn't playing makes me wonder about the validity of it.

Lee Sharpe is the reason I started supporting United. What a player he could have been.

Times have changed (not always for the better). You'll never get away with this nowadays, given how sensitive the current generation is!
