Weekend preview...

Not many more to go, so each weekend of league football gets that little bit more decisive...

FA Cup Semi Finals
Manchester City and Chelsea meet in Saturdays dinner time clash, before it's the turn of Manchester United and Coventry City on Sunday afternoon.

Premier League
Arsenal get the chance to go back top tomorrow in an evening kick-off at Wolves. However, the main action centres on the bottom 3. Luton welcome Brentford with the Bees almost certain of safety if they win. A home win pushes Town up to 16th. Also at 3pm tomorrow the bottom 2 clash at Brammall Lane. Burnley could be within 3 points of safety with a win, and defeat for the Blades will leave them 10 adrift with just 15 to play for. A home win and there would be the smallest of glimmers for United.
Another massive relegation battle takes place Sunday at 1:30 with Everton vs Forest. Forest could be in the bottom 3 at kick off, with the Toffees just a point ahead.
Villa will look to strengthen their top 4 claims at home to a Bournemouth side with a feint hope of European qualification. West Ham will look to move up to 6th at home to Palace who still need points to make sure of their safety. Finally Liverpool go to Fulham, which may give them a chance to go top.

Championship
And still it rolls on. Between the top 3 the last 9 results have seen 5 defeats, 3 draws and a solitary Leicester win. It all means Southampton, with 3 wins on the bounce, are now right back in it. The early kick off tomorrow is Leicester versus a West Brom side not quite sure of a play-off place. Southampton host Cardiff in a 3pm. Leeds don't play until Monday, away to Middlesbrough while Ipswich's game against Coventry has been moved due to the FA Cup.
Down the bottom, Rotherhams relegation aside, the picture remains murky. Birmingham climbed out of the bottom 2 last week, leaving Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield in the danger zone. Stoke and QPR are just 3 points clear while Plymouth, Blackburn and Millwall can't quite rest easily yet. Blackburn play Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

League 1
Portsmouth were crowned champions midweek, so it is now a fight for the second automatic place. Derby (86pts) hold the advantage over Bolton (83) and Peterborough (80) - the Posh do have a game in hand. The penultimate weekend sees Derby at Cambridge, Bolton host Port Vale and Peterborough face Bristol Rovers.
Cambridge and Port Vale remain in the relegation battle, one which Fleetwood will lose if they fail to beat Leyton Orient away. Cheltenham and Burton are both still very much in the fight down there.

League 2
With the title won by Stockport County and Wrexham and Mansfield up, it is the fight for the play-offs which holds the headlines in the fourth tier. Doncaster versus Barrow is the big fixture with Crawley, Walsall and Gillingham still in the picture.
Down the bottom, Forest Greens fall back into non-league is already confirmed and Sutton will join them if they lose or Colchester win and Grimsby get a point. Sutton host Crawley, while Colchester go to Notts County and Grimsby host Swindon.

Bundesliga
Leverkusen are champions, and with 5th now almost certain a CL place, there is little to play for up the top.
Darmstadts relegation could be confirmed as they play 2nd from bottom Koln, whose own hopes of safety will be severely damaged with defeat.

Serie A
The title could be decided on Sunday as Inter Milan make the long and arduous journey to face AC Milan in the San Siro. An Inter win and the title is theirs. A draw or AC win drags it out.
With 5 CL places for Italy their may be new life breathed into Atalanta, Lazio and Napoli. 5th placed Roma play 4th placed Bologna, so wins for the chasing pack will close the gap.

La Liga
Another massive clash on Sunday and the "El Classico". Sitting 8 points clear of their rivals, Real know a win will all but seal the title. Barcelona, fresh from CL disappointment, need a win to keep their slim hopes alive.

Ligue 1
Brest host Monaco in the fight for 2nd, with the home side 1 point ahead but Monaco having a game in hand. PSG, at home to Lyon, could therefore extend their 10 point lead with 5 games to go after this weekend.

Primeira Liga
Sporting have a 7 point lead with a tie against Vitoria Guimaraes this weekend. Benfica go to Faranse.

Scotland
It is the cup semi finals, with Aberdeen facing Celtic and Rangers versus Hearts.

Non-Leagues
It is the last day of the regular season, and I will be taking in my local teams match. Over in the National League, Chesterfields title hangover has seen them lose 4 in a row, but it is all academic. Barnet and Bromley have secured the first 2 p/o places, meaning they join in the semi finals. Altrincham, Solihull Moors and Gateshead will be in the quarters, with FC Halifax and Aldershot level on points in the fight for the 6th place.
Tamworth and Yeovil have secured the North and South titles but still some play-off places to play for.

Should be another good weekend of football, even if the weather is still a bit shiiity.

City vs Colesea will be a good game. It'll be interesting to see whether City just play their way or if Pep will do anything specific to nullify Palmer.

I don't see an upset in the other game with Coventry reaching the final.

I expect us to put in a tured performance against Wolves but hopefully we can squeak a 1-0 and lift ourselves mentally and physically for Chelsea.

Boreham Wood vs Ebbsfleet. Could be loser is relegated - will definitely be the case if BW lose or draw, but Woking sit between them, so Ebbsfleet may get a second chance if they lose.

Looks like tomorrow is the day for betting.

Great summary.

I’ve got Luton 4-2 and Sheff U 2-2 for 4.7k

Hoping Luton have one of their good days.

Burnley back within touching distance of safety.

Shame they have Man Utd, Newcastle and Spurs before they play Forest.
Brentford now 7 points clear of the relegation places.

Southampton blow their opportunity, surely over for them.
Millwall secure safety.

Derby and Bolton go to the last day with Peterborough still able to catch 2nd.
Barnsley, Lincoln, Oxford and Blackpool fighting it out over last 2 play-off places on last day.
Fleetwood and Port Vale relegated. Cheltenham need to win 2 out of 2, including Peterborough midweek, to survive.

Barrow, Crawley, Doncaster and Walsall fighting for last 2 places - although if everything goes against them, Crewe could miss out.
Grimsby safe, Colchester need a point from 2 games to relegate Sutton but they do face 2 play-off chasers. Sutton have MK Dons who may be saving players for the P/Os.
