The one thing I would say about Ange is that he needs to be a bit cuter with the media (and by extension, with our fans).
He made a major faux pas with his comments about not working on defending set pieces and now that’s being used by pundits and fans alike as a stick to beat him with. The reality is that we probably do work on set piece defending but Ange was just trying to make a broader point, which has been lost in the noise.
Just as Harry kept constantly reminding the world and his brother in 2008 when he took over a relegation threatened Spurs side that Spurs had only achieved “2 points from 8 games", Ange should constantly have referred to the fact that we lost the best striker in world football on the eve of the season, who wasn’t even replaced. Clearly you can’t get another Harry Kane, but we didn’t even recruit a new proven striker!
This message should have been regularly driven home, because everyone is now up in arms at the fact that we are finishing the season badly and look unlikely to qualify for the Champions League and most have completely forgotten about the near guaranteed 25 to 30 league goals that were taken out of our team, which would have made a massive difference
.
I actually thought our performance against Liverpool was much better, but we had zero cutting edge. Son has been a great servant for us, but he does tend to go missing at times and he has these periods where he seemingly can’t keep his balance and stay on his feet. I have no doubt that Kane would have scored against Liverpool on Sunday and the outcome would have been vastly different. I know that we don’t have a great record at Anfield, but Liverpool went into that game a bit jittery and we did nothing to capitalise on there nervousness.
Without doubt the club must invest in a proven goal scorer this summer. Yes, I know that there are other positions that need to be filled also, but the number 9 position has got to be top priority.

Full backs pushing up, leaving two on two near the half way line when we are attacking in the opponent's half. Zonal marking at set pieces and lack of protection for Vic. He has changed to man marking corners now so that's something.

Well how can we actually have a better keeper, and back 4 as last season and still be conceding at the same rate? We all thought Dier and Sanchez were problems and we got rid of them, seemingly for better players. Obviously it points things more at the manager therefore, doesn't it?

Ange has not lost the dressing room and I am certainly not suggesting he has.
What I meant in my last comment is that good players think for themselves. Yes, do it within an overall structure, but think on your feet. I personally can’t accept that a manager (any manager) is totally responsible for every pass, decision, tackle a player makes. If our players learn to be more competitive and mentally strong, our fortunes will improve. That’s why we’re going to have to sign new players in the summer that can fit that mould.
