ETH

He definitely has to go, as I think we all know now.
But at the end of the season.
He's done his best in trying circumstances, so he deserves to keep his dignity in his departure

It is no exaggeration to say teams have been able to stroll through our midfield for years.
I have no shame in saying I don't know why. I'm an elderly man living in France, and watching half our games at best.
I do expect our manager to know and have a plan how to stop it.
Also some posters on here will know, without just saying sack the manager.
Rather these players, in these positions, with these instructions would educate the likes of me.
My feeling is better players would cure it, I've Keane or Robbo for example. But I accept I'm probably wrong.

So you create an article calling for ETH to go and knowingly that it will also divide the Utd board, then say you only watch half the games at best but feel the need that ETH should go, but then you say “better players would cure it”!!

What is it the manager or players?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A little bit of everything in the pot:

Bloated squad, lazy players with inadequate attributes, poor strategy, lack of structure!

The issues are multifaceted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with your points, but do you think ETH could take us forward now we’re getting some sort of structure above him sorted or do we need a fresh start?

Obviously the right players need bringing in!
But the OP seems to think ETH is the right way to start the ball rolling!

No beef, I don’t have an issue with him, just some of his posts!

Your thoughts on ETH going this summer or let him crack on with the new structure?

I want to see the new structure in place first then see whether ETH features in their plans.

ETH has a lot on his plate, one being negative fan sentiment which could boil over at anyone moment. Really good response from the away fans at the Palace but how long will that last. I think most are aware ETH has been dealt a difficult task, he's come into a club with a bloated squad, no DoF, given more freedom on transfers than is afforded to Klopp or Pep, for example. But I also understand the anger from fans who are screaming out for something different strategy wise, team selection and formation wise.

For me he needs to be appraised under the impending structure, backed by players who can fulfil a playing style chosen by the new structure. It's not clear cut for me. Wilcox is reviewing everything at the moment, including ETH and he has a big call as to whether they start afresh with someone new but who? Or stick with ETH. The options for a replacement at this stage of the regime's progress is very limited.

We must also operate with cautionary optimism. Yes, the change of structure is what is needed but we just don't know how Jim and co will deal at a big club, they've hardly set the world alight in the French league so it is another unknown to deal with. The change is better than nothing and will no doubt do better than the Glazers or any of the idiots they hired to manage transfers. Another unknown is how the minority stake will operate given Glazers will still sign things off.

We'll just wait and see. I said on this thread I'd like to see ETH continue under the new structure but would also understand if he was released. As you can see it's a massive undertaking and I do not envy Wilcox one bit!

Another factor that will be on the fore front of Sir Jim's thinking, do they start a new structure by sacking someone before they've started, so to speak? ideally they wanted ETH's fate sealed by the previous regime. It sends out the wrong message at this early stage of their reign.

I think keeping hold of him, providing him everything to turn things around would send a different message to the one we've seen for the last 10 years - one of constant change, constantly being in transition to one of hope and redemption.

Totally agree with you, ETH should be given the chance under the new structure, hopefully we can bring in right players that can not only play type of football we need them to play, but also be able to put up with rigours and demands of playing in the Premier League.
