Do we give him another season?
I know opinion had started to turn somewhat after a few months where he didn't make that many errors. People were starting to say he'd come through the blips and mistakes and was looking decent. However he's definitely gone backwards again last few weeks with some pretty diabolical errors.
I'm probably still in the camp of we give him the benefit of the doubt and a second season but anymore of this next year and he's surely finished at this club.
Although if we are to change manager over the summer, which I think is pretty certain, then he may not even get the chance of a second season.
As I said though I suspect he might get the benefit of the doubt and given we have so many other issues to fix it's probably not the number one priority. We need to build a team that doesn't make him face 30 shots a game.
Opinions on Onana right now?

He will never be on par with the average PL goalkeeper when it comes to shot stopping, he’s well before par in that aspect.
So if we’re to make use of him we need to reduce the number of shots he faces (shouldn’t be too hard) and sign 4-5 defenders and a midfielder to allow him to play out the back.

He's got a howler in him but he has not been helped by having a shoddy defence and midfield that allow people to stroll through to him.
To be fair, all of our keepers from our successful era with SAF to date have always had a mistake inthem.
Van der Sar was the only one that never dropped us in it.
Schmeichel had a few, as did Barthez, Howard, Carroll, De Gea, etc

The differences were, if Schmeical let one in, it rarely affected the result, and he had credit in the bank.

Onana isn't great, but not to the extent that he is an issue that needs tackling for next season.............if he was, it would suggest we have rectified many other issues which we have

He was one of the best of all time. A fantastic keeper. He did drop the odd howler, but every keeper does. And some of the saves the Schmeichel made were incredible. He was also good at intimidating opposition players in one-one-one situations with his size abd by being aggressive.

There is no hard and fast rule as to how recruitment best works in football.
As far as the on pitch performance goes. The manager / head coach SHOULD be best placed to identify what his squad requires, and which players would be beneficial.
Business wise, yeah, a director of football might be better for the finances, but might not.

I dont recall anyone using the quality of their teammates when judging Schmeichel or DDG.
