The Best Ever Generation.

My parents’ and your Grand & Great Grandparents’.

They experienced the waste of WW1.

Survived the Depression, and defeated Fascism in WW2.

80 Years ago today the D Day Normandy beach landings.

Average age in some sectors 24 or less.

I could do fvk all at 24.

Supported by the Welfare State they also voted for in '45.

Here’s to them and their eternal memory.

I just meant WWII in war probably was won on the eastern Front more than anywhere else

Apologises if I offended anyone here

My own Grandfather & Great Uncles fought in WWII (I am half Brit after all)

No one was offended

It was just an unnecessary comment

Don't worry we are used to it on here. If we said Mars is the best planet Rangers fans would say it's Venus

“Pluto is still a planet.

Rangers are still the same club.”

My maternal grandfather was an Italian in Scotland during WWII. Was hounded out of his shop by his customers. Sent to Canada as a POW. Missed being on the Arandora Star by sheer chance. A less bitter and kinder man you would never meet.

War’s a basturd.

My mate's grandad was a natzi.

Was a PoW and sent here to work on the farms. Loved it here so much that he moved here permanently after the war.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
My granda was a potato merchant and used PoWs. Poles were his fav and he gave them extra cigs and stuff so they wanted to work for him.

Aye my grrat granny had Italians and Germans working on her farm as indentured help.

Not to push stereotypes, but apparently she always swore the Italians were lazy basturds while the Germans put a shift in.
