As is so often the way, by cynical human design or by random twist of fate, Julen Lopetegui picks a football team for the first time in almost a year and it's against his old club. Having spent all of last season lunching in the Mermaid on the Bridgnorth Road, getting the most out of his National Trust membership and telling his agent ".... no I'm not holed up in this sh*t hole of a town so that you can send me to f*cking Sheffield...", Julen is back in the game with the 'ammers. And in a further twist, they've taken our captain too.
An iddy biddy lil ol bit of spice then to this stateside encounter which no doubt will be shorn of players who played in the summer tournaments on both sides. A chance for squad members to make an impression, to GON and/or other coaches who may be taking an interest from afar. So don't be surprised to see extraordinary things such as Goncalo Guedes playing as if he actually gives a fack.
Results are unimportant in these games but, just for entertainment value, nip over to Molineux mix at full time in the early hours of Sunday morning or late Saturday if your stateside and we'll either be winning the league or getting relegated based solely on the result of a game which is likely to end with Tom King and Ki Jana Hoever repelling the opposition.

Looks like Molineux mix is down, wonder if the mods over there have got the hump and pulled the plug over the complaints of over moderation. They really have been ridiculous, tried to pull a "rumours from the pub" thread because it was straying off topic. How the eff can a pub banter thread go off topic?

I know that Goldie, but it was cinci who asked the question and he lives here in the States, So for him the kick off is on Wednesday. Plus said it was Thursday evening. Wrong again if you're in the UK, as it will be am which means morning.

Fortunately, I'm one of the few people whose driving isn't impaired by alcohol consumption. In actual fact, I have driven to over 15,000 football matches since I started supporting Wolves, and driven the two hours home in reverse gear cause my headlights were out through thick fog and on sheets of black ice after drinking a minimum of 12 pints.
