Vaughan wants sub continent type pitches.

Michael Vaughan's solution to England's problems is for some pitches in England to be be prepared low, slow and taking spin.
Surely he will also need to have temperatures above 30 degrees for months on end and little rainfall to achieve this.

I suspect this is just another piece of nonsense from a man famous for talking nonsense.

What's wrong with his suggestion ? Half the cricket world out there has such type of pitches and that's a lot of matches for Eng to lose out on resultwise..

I don't think it's a shocking idea.

On a side note...

We play international 50 overs matches...

So, why is our "like for like" competition in England only 40 overs?

How can this benefit the players?

Take Bairstow, recently turned 22. How would he know how to pace an innings if he came in after 20 overs...

Something has to change. This series is a blessing in disguise. We beat a transitional Sri Lankan team and an injury ravaged and knackered India team at home. Decent effort.

The true test was away against the Champions and we bordered on pathetic,

So Yorkie are you going to volunteer Headingly to become a slow, low turner.
I can't see many counties digging up their squares to this idea.
Without the correct climate it's doomed anyway.

They claimed to have changed the pitch to make it more spinner friendly last season - not based on our spinners efforts.

I agree with the sentiment of his thoughts. More should be done in England to try and match the 50 over game (hence my point about why do we play 40 over one day County games...).

I agree with you that you cannot change the conditions or our climate. I am not going to guess the ability of a groundsman to change a pitch, but it would be nice to see us as a country try.

In an ideal world, I would love us to play in India in 20 odd games in a row, with the main players (Cook, Morgan, Swann, Broad etc) mixed with the best young talent we have (Stokes, Taylor, Finn, Woakes). Stick with the side and help them learn.

I don't think it can be all put down to the conditions. A lot of this is the mentality.

It would nt be a bad idea to prepare such tracks against lowly ranked oppostion like Bangladesh. Windies and perhaps Nzl.I remember Pakistan preparing green top wickets(outside their comfort zone) against Zimbabwe in 93 and despite their batsman failing miserably they won the series 2-0.
