Huddersfield Town v Chesterfield

Boxing Day...3pm ko...category C game.

Town will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they entertain last seasons Division 2 champions Chesterfield at the Galpharm Stadium.

Although Chesterfield managed to win their league last season (with a mere 86 points), they have struggled to adapt to the demands of League One so far.

Currently sitting in bottom place with just 3 wins and 14 points, Chesterfield are on a run of 10 defeats and 3 draws in their last 13 games. There only 3 wins came in a mini run of successive victories including a 3-0 away at Bournemouth.

If ever there was a home 'banker', this is it with the Spireites away record of W1 D1 L8 For 14 Agst 26. It is pay on the day for any Spireite who can get out of bed and drag his hangover to Huddersfield..

The heady days of last season must seem a long way off now, and they seem destined to an instant return from whence they came.

On their books are Neil Trotman and Dwayne Mattis.

Leading scorers are ex Wendy Leon Clarke at 6'2" and with 9 goals from 14 games, with Craig Westcarr who has 5 goals from 16 games, an ex Forest player. They also have Jack Lester who returned from injury with a goal in Saturdays 1-1 with Walsall.

Another worrying thing for Chesterfield is assisant manager Tommy Wrights' comments that they will not worry about Jordan Rhodes , which seems to be an almost suicidal decision.

Adding to the Spireites woes is there record against top 6 clubs this season...lost 1-3, lost 1-3, lost 0-1, lost 2-6 and lost 1-2....let's hope Town can make up a full set for them.

With 13 games without a win, the Spireites need to start picking up points as they are 5 points adrift of safety at the moment.

For Town, with just 2 wins from their past 7 games, and after slipping from 2nd to 4th..9 points behind Charlton and 4 points behind Wendy, it is vital we get back to winning ways, especially with another home game quickly following on the Friday night after Boxing Day.

Jack Hunt will no doubt relish playing against his ex team mates, and was pleased to pick up a Divison2 champions medal last season.

With captain Peter Clarke out due to suspension, the opportunity knocks for Anthony Kay to claim the place alongside Alex the Bruce. Town welcome back Alan Lee, who has been sorely missed despite the loan of the rather ineffective Jon Parkin.

Nothing other than a comprehensive win will do, and I expect Town to really get stuck into them and come out healthy winners, and embark on a run of successive victories that will see us reclaim 2nd place and eventually overtake Charlton.

Score prediction: Town 7 Chesterfield 1.

I love you, too, Wethers. (Even though you've chosen not to follow me on Twitter ) But I have to point out that I am still a teensy weensy little bit miffed about certain comments made about my pal, Mitzi. It was a bit naughty of you. <slappedhandsmiley>
But, in the interests of bonne homme, I'm here with my match article which I gift to you all.

I would have posted my Chesterfield one, too, but didn't know I was doing it until Saturday pm and you already got one up. Oo-er.

I nicked her Bournemouth match thread, AND thanked her for it, but I didn't ask permission, she got a nark on, I didn't say much but the fellow Town ja606er's thought she was a bit off. I told her on New 606 that I wouldn't be commenting on there any more as I don't want to upset her further. End of really!
