Why is the QB the most important position?

I understand that they make the throws and dictate the play but when I hear guys like Brady, Rodgers and Brees hitting x amount of TD passes or carrying their team, surely its the team that make the QB. Surely its the WR, TE who dictate how good the QB is and ultimately how good the team performs.

Why do QBs get so much credit?

Its the only position that requires skill.

Don't the others just run around bashing into each other?

I guess the catcher dude has some skill given he has to avoid a 16 stone man crippling him whilst keeping an eye on the ball or the shoe or whatever it is they play with.

Hope that explanation wasn't too technical for you.

It's because you could have to best Wr's in the world but if you've got a guy who cant throw to save his life then they wont be effective as they wont get the ball. The first rule of football is complete your passes because if you dont do that then your really in for a bad day.
The likes of Brady, Rodgers, Brees and Stafford are soooo important because they allow the like of Welker,Jennings, Colston and Calvin to get into the game!!
However, you can argue that the Running back is just as important as he creates the opportunity for the play action and gives a deep a balance. Something that Detroit don't have and the Saints didn't have last year.

The conventional QB with a solid o line surely has the easiet job if he has WC catchers? Tbh I think I could become a good QB if I went out hit the gym, achieve muscle perfection and throw 10,000 balls a day at a target.

Establishment; I believe being a linebacker or safety takes the most skill and ability to read a situation in a split second..

It's no coincidence that teams with a better QB have a better overall record and advance into the playoffs.

IMO, QB is one of the toughest positions to play in professional sports.
He has to be the leader of the team, make consistent plays to put his team in a position to win, whilst being chased by 4+ 300lb men. They have to be smart, tough, and incredibly skilled.
90% of the time, they get less than four seconds to throw the ball into a tight spot where only one of his players can get to it. With the correct accuracy and power. Again, with angry men trying to knock his head off.
And, that's why most of the time teams with the worst record select a QB first overall in the NFL Draft.

This is Tebow in the 2010 season as a rookie.
