Luke Burgess gets a start this week - NRL

Well there you go, who would of thought Luke would of stepped off the plane and into a first grade jumper.
Fair enough South's have got an injury crisis up front and this week big Dave Taylor is suspended but it still comes as a surprise to me that Burgess isn't going to play a week or two in the reserves to allow him to stick his toe in the water.

Congratulations to him for putting his hand up and I'll be watching him very closely without expecting to much from him for the first couple of weeks.

Hopefully Sam will be ready for you guys come the 4 nations......it would be a lot to ask of any player to represent his country without any game time under his belt.

"hope he makes it we can do with him and his brothers in the 4 nations for England"

Just because he has gone to the NRL, I doubt he will be a completely different player by the time the 4 nations kicks off... England are in deep trouble if they're in need of Luke Burgess.

hopefully he will improve and with better coaching get rid of the silly mistakes that are in his game at present.

off recent form you wouldnt say he was up to NRL standard but he is at a good age and has time on his side

He seems to miss tackles or time them wrong giving away penalties or giving the opposition more metres, i know every player can do that but thats what ive noticed. Im not sure if its fitness or lack of concentration but his defence can be his let down.
Also dropped balls is a problem i really hope he makes a good impression and make a name for himself rather than be sams older brother

Cheers, thanks for your opinion, hopefully coming the bench will help the fitness factor.
As for some dropped balls his brother can have bad spells of dropping the ball, usually in bad situation like 20 out from either end. More then likely because of the way he carries the ball in order to get a pass away.

Cheers

Luke Burgess went very well all things considered.
He came off the bench at about the 30th minute stage of the match and made 28 tackles and 22 hit-ups and gave away 2 penalties one of which was a bit rough and the other penalty was blatant stupidity in attempting to take the ball from a tackled player on the ground (over enthusiastic we will put it down to).
His effort in running the ball up were very good and some of his hits in tackles will be still felt this morning when the Sharks have a swim in the ocean to check out who is O.K and who is in need of attention this week.
Unfortunately for Luke South's went down 26 - 4 in what was a game to forget and not reflect on considering the good efforts of the last 6 weeks.
Cheers...
