NZ v SA, Stumps Day 4

South Africa 238 & 435/5d
New Zealand 273 & 137/2

New Zealand need 264 runs to win with 8 wickets in hand. Can NZ do the impossible and chase this down?

Probably not, because the forecast is for rain tomorrow

Regardless, I'm very pleased that we are putting up a good fight against this classy South African side. And with our two most experienced batsmen at the crease building a good partnership and frustrating the likes of Steyn and Philander, you never know (if the rain holds off) we might get an unlikely win

Come on Brendan and Ross, you need to get big hundreds

I'm a New Zealander by the way

Maski,
Normally we don't even get to day 5 because the match is over by then
Don't think there'll be enough cricket today for a result. I'm happy with a draw though

hehe Jono. Like Australia you mean? :p Beaten by an innings inside 3 days is the norm

It is starting to look like that mate, but this first test match has shown that your boys can compete. I hope you stuff them in the next two

England England number One and personally I still think New Zealand were about to win that test match South Africa are an average side who play decent cricket, which is enough to beat India and Australia anyway

Woefully bad in the UAE?. We lost 2 test matches by 70 runs and both were thrillers. We can not play in the Sub C and Pakistan made it very very difficult for us. I do not accept that we were woeful. Pakistan were excellent and I congratulate them. I would like to see India trying to stop us get 145 in the second innings of a test match with 10 wickets in hand.

Barcelona have also lost some matches recently but are still the far and away best team on earth, as are we

No, I do not agree Neon, and we don't have to compare us to those greats from yesteryear. Here and now we are far and away the best team on the planet.
It will all become apparent to you over the next 24 months

Patience Neon. We were beaten last time out but after 3 years of good level cricket, that was almost inevietable against somebody. Why does everybody have to be in so much of a rush all the time?
