Saka, Martinelli are in that bracket and ESR is improving very fast. We have to thank Emery for spotting ESR btw. You are of course entitled to your opinion. Just think we need to give them a break. I suspect Eddie hasn't played more often recently because he has been overplayed in the past 6-8 months. I hope that doesn't happen to ESR/Saka.

Andy Cole was a youngster who never got his chance at Arsenal and left to make a name for himself at the at the time division one leaders. Sound familiar?

As for why I brought International appearances into the discussion is obvious. I want Balogun to stay. But I have no control over that. What I am trying to understand is why Arteta has not involved him more or made more of an effort to keep him. And sometimes opinions from coaches not employed under Arteta can shed a different light. Scouts always look at player performances at International youth level when trying to assess potential!

“To start a relationship with a new manager, a new club, new teammates when he’s not having any game time, is really difficult and it’s damaging for his future.
“I want to protect the player that we signed and the future that we have alongside him. The best way to do that is to give him minutes and play him.
“He’s been really good. It’s been difficult months for him to cope with that situation but I see the development that he’s made, the progression that he’s shown over the months and now he’s ready to compete.

Or how can you assess youth players when they haven't broken into the first team? By their U23 results? If that was the case Alialidare would be our greatest ever goal scorer.
In fact international youth football is an excellent way to compare against their piers. Doesn't mean they will make it because they are outstanding at that level or they won't because they haven't been selected. But to ignore it or make excuses for the lack of is just silly.
