City winning it means nothing to me. I'll turn TV off and wake up next day like nothing happened.

Let’s hope Inter do them in the final!

That's true of every team for me other than Liverpool (obviously) and England. I may not want City to win the CL or Utd to win the FA Cup but if they did, by the morning it would be forgotten.

They have demolished Real Madrid. That's why need Mac Allister. Pace and power is important in certain positions like the DM and defence but to dominate possession you need those players who are comfortable in possession like Silva, KDB, Gundogan and Grealish.

I know how they got here is bad but for 11 players on the field you really do have to marvel at this city team.

This is the bonus of City winning. Not one WhatsApp message or call from anyone. If United, Arsenal or Chelsea won my phone would be put on mute. This City phase is just a blur.

I thought Walker was outstanding against Vinicius. There was 1v1 moment in the game and he easily won the race and mentally finished him. He didn't had the courage to go 1v1 against him anymore.

We need those kind of defenders in the summer.

Walker does not have attacking responsibility so being asked to man mark is alot easier

Yeah it was early on in the game and notable, instantly reminded me of when Lautaro Martinez gave-up against Van Dijk last year.

Fair play if you can feel that way but I genuinely don't. The whole booing the CL anthem and what not, even while thrashing Madrid at home they're still desperate to be underdogs in even a tiny sense because they know they should absolutely be dominating everything every year. And apart from the CL they have been, so now that's that.

As does all the illegal payments

posted on 18/5/23

Yeah but the illegal stuff has been there since Mancini, Pellegrini or whoever else has been their manager.

They've never been this dominant or innovative on the pitch.

You’re desperate to start supporting them, it’s blatantly obvious. Just create another account and do it.

Yep, City were no great shakes before Pep really, and will dip when he finally goes. Much like us with Edwards and Gordon, having Begiristain there has helped too.

Yeah, Txiki is a mastermind. Should get more credit imo. Seem to remember Rafa wanting to bring him in while he was still at Barcelona.

Sadly, I can't see City's dominance ending when Pep goes. They've put together that multi club model behind the scenes to allow them to hoover up global talent at minimal risk. It's partly why Brighton have done so well with their shared ownership of USG.

UEFA should really crack down on it imo but apparently Ceferin wants to relax rules on clubs with shared owners competing in the same UEFA competition

Chelsea looking at getting in on the act by buying a stake in Strasbourg and a Portuguese club too...

FSG spending money

posted on 18/5/23

Not sure we would see the same benefits anyway.

City have done it to arrange Starbucks style "image rights" so their other clubs (unburdened by FFP) pay them royalties for their badges and kits, As well as undisclosed fees for loans, City also take advantage of the arrangement by not having a global scouting operation, reducing their operating costs and passing that job on to the other clubs.

They also then negotiate ridiculous sponsorship deals and justify it as being for the entire "City group"

FSG aren't looking for loopholes through which they can pump buttloads of money in to the club, they don't even need the permitted investment levels.

Sounds clever to me

I love when people talk about morality in football as if it isn’t just people being paid tens of millions of pounds to kick a football around while we rinse working class spectators for every penny they have to go see the game.

Give those current City players to Dyche and Allardyce and they won't know what to do. That's why they manage average players.

Pep is the only difference between them dominating the way they do. I have never seen Real Madrid being dominated by an English team like yesterday.

Real Madrid normally overload, progress and attack from that left side channel with Camavinga, Modric and Benzema to launch Vinicius but City prevented this. City had constantly a man to man press on that side which neutralised the whole Real attack. They don't have nothing to offer if you stop Vinicius.

This. But on the whole, top level football is just too corporate for me these days. I go to my local non league team. Fan-owned, can mix with away support who are always well behaved and up for a chat and you can have a beer in the stands. £12 a ticket or a season ticket is about £150 which is far more manageable than the better part of a grand LFC charges - if you ever make it off the waiting list that is.

Dyche or Allardyce is a bit extreme but even a Ancelotti won't be all dominating with the same players imo
