Who's actually going to pay good money for Nunez? We will want £50m minimum.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Loads of clubs. I mean they’d pay it Diaz, right? We paid it for Gakpo. I could list a plethora of players in the same market place.

I severely doubt he’ll be sold anyway but you never know.

posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago

I didn't think he would be sold but multiple journos saying the same thing says deliberate leak more often than not to me.

Feels a bit like those Rodgers pieces about Benteke and others.

posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago

Who would we get in of Nunez goes?.

He's still done far more than gakpo, but in reality one needs to go and another come in to complete for number 1 striker.

People say Jota, but he's had his own problems.. Mostly with injuries, but he didn't score for a year either and can't be relied upon.

Salah also cannot be relied upon any more, but who do we get in to replace him?

Diaz is our most valuable player if you go buy transfermrket and he will get a lot of admirers especially with the wage he is on.

Nunez is unfortunately scarred by his poor finishing which is well known in football. He is on decent wages so the only type of clubs that could go for him is someone like West Ham, Newcastle etc

Italy and Germany cannot afford him.

You could see him at Atletico Madrid but not Barca or Real. PSG maybe.

I would probably still give him another season and like what others have said that he should play on the left.

Nunez is €5m less on transfer market and as we know, Diaz has a worse conversion rate.

Like I said though, I really can’t see him going this summer. Maybe he’ll want to though I guess? He’s really struggled with the language.

I mean that in of itself shows a bit problem for me with Nunez. Really should be learning the language in 2 years.

posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago

Some people really struggle with languages. Some people lie about it so they don’t have to deal with the press. It’s no big deal for me.

Every time I’ve seen a Liverpool player asked who is the best player in training, they all say Nunez.

But regardless we wouldn’t be short of offers at £50m I don’t think.

posted 3 weeks, 4 days ago

Brits also struggle to learn new languages. They barely can speak English themselves 😂.
I have been in Argentina and a lot of them don't speak English. They just find it difficult to learn the language.

I remember once reading a review of a Spanish or greek hotel and they were fuming that no one spoke good English 🤦🏽‍♂️

I know he is Uruguayan but people from that continent just have difficulties with the English language.

Yeah Suarez took forever to learn even basic English.

Anyway I think Nunez should have one more season, as he is just one attribute away from being world class... If he could work on his overthinking and composure then he would be class.

Inverting Trent and playing the box midfield forced a few players into roles that just don't suit their profile. But also when Trent stays in the defensive line whether on the right or central, then we see a shape that we're more used to because it allows the wide players to come infield a bit.

Despite our points tally since inverting, our defence has been indifferent and we've never really looked like getting the balance right.

Preferably I wouldn't consider selling anyone until the new coach confirms which players fit into his plans and/or system.

I'm sure it will be discussed in the interview process though...still need to make it happen on the training pitches and then later in games.

I’d agree with all this (bar the three players I’ve listed earlier).

Inverting has massive benefits and can be great on the eye but it’s all got a bit convoluted for me!and it’s really hindered some players, Robbo being the main casualty imo.

Does Slot speak any other languages? Klopp had Pep to speak Spanish.

Only players I’d let go this summer are Matip, Thiago, and Tsimikas.

If very good offers Id consider Salah and possibly Diaz.

Not sure if anyone agrees but maybe Robbo too but I want to see what Slot does as a back four.

But too much change at once is rarely a good thing in football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn’t sell both LB’s at the same time, but we do need someone better than Robbo imo. He can still do it, but his consistency seems to have gone.

You’re spot on about too much change. It hasn’t really been mentioned much as a contributory factor but at times we’ve had a starting midfield of three new players. That’s got to have an affect on the whole team over the course of the season. Ideally you only want one new player a season in each part of the pitch.

Quick search suggests there are currently 17 players in Germany on more than his Liverpool salary. Half the Bayern squad but also Haller, Sule and Kobel at Dortmund and Olmo at RBL. Loads of player close to that level as well.

12 higher in Italy with players at Juve, Inter, Roma, Napoli. Our old player Luis Alberto is only on a little bit less!

He would have a load of options. Not that I think we'll sell him anyway - a new manager will know that if they can improve Nunez by a relatively small amount then they'll have one hell of a forward. I'm sure any manager would back themselves to do that. Or at the very least, want to try.

£60m price tag for Olise and Eze seems surprisingly reasonable in the current market. Not sure that will scare off any potential bidders, it will be the injury record which would cause concern.

Slot plays just as intense football so its not good for injury prone players

Bascombe and Joyce coming out with articles at exactly the same time talking about players, and both have mentioned how Nunez was a Klopp signing not an recruitment one. The recruitment preferred Nkunku apparently but I suppose he'd have been a cripple so either way it'd have failed

Seems like the ground work is being laid to move him on...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is this the new thing, throw Klopp under the bus for everyone now he has one foot out the door.

They'll be blaming him for global warming next.

Very different to expecting somebody who lives and works in the country and needs to communicate with non-Spanish speakers on a daily basis to speak English rather than somebody who lives in Spain…
