Can’t say for certain but I’d still say it’s obvious that we’d turned Zubimendi’s head. Go in there, smash the clause to bits and drop £150k on him before he can turn it back.
I normally don’t mind waiting and caution one bit, but with our most successful manager in best part of half a century leaving, I feel it’s important. That’s why it’s called a statement signing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's one of the reasons I'm frustrated. Delay kills deals. If the player has given indication that he is interested, move quickly and get the deal done.
This isn't a good look at all for the new regime.
happened to dalglish with roy keane didnt it, spoke about it on the overlap the other month. Keane gave him his word then signed for utd.

Might have simply been the case he was one player we atttainable on our radar we were willing to move for? Now its turned out hes not attainable its back to no1. Just cause hes now not available doesn't mean we stray from our list and lower our standards/criteria just to gett a 6 in? has to be someone we are fully convinced on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not likely imo that he's the one player that improves us and is available.
I'm really hopeful that we just want to do our business quietly rather than fuel media guesswork.
didnt do this one quietly enough, everyone knows we've been stitched up and theres added desperation? nows prob now the best time to move, clubs be adding on millions esp with the season about to kick off.
Is there any proof that player gave his word? From what I read that we agreed to pay release clause which club wanted in full so we were on a mad dash to sell players. Agent might have been interested in his player moving for his/her own motives but nothing about the player which is chequered history every agreeing.

Endo... Clark...McConnell...
I wonder whether they will leave now 😂
Ederson isn't a first phase build up player who can receive the ball under pressure and pass. He likes to dribble out of pressure and is more a box to box midfielder. We need a 6 who can hold his position and make line break passes. Zubimendi was the right profile. He would play as a deep lying play maker in the Slot system.
I will be satisfied with a top 4 finish with the current squad.

That should not be the expectation. Manager himself said early that he wants us to improve on the 82 points from last season and now he's not being backed.
Following year we could be without Salah and VVD and even if they do sign they are another year older.

wharton is more of a similar profile to zubi if thats what we're truly after... What id like is someone with a different skill set, some pace power and legs in mf.
we ended last season with mac10 elliott and endo, none of them have legs or cover the ground quickly. crying outt for someone different. Szobs closest we have but isnt the aggressive type for it either or a natural ball winner. However thats pointless if Slots wanting something totally different which is what Zubi is, not a traditional 6 is he, hes no rodri or fabinho etc, more like thiago if anything.
Based on half a season in the Prem, Wharton does seem to be the kind of midfielder we're after. Palace would be mad to sell him already though, plus it would be a big risk to see if he could make the step up.
Anyway, who needs Wharton when you have a Morton?
Pathetic last few pages from some on here. Same monotonous bullsheet every summer and very boring and stoopid thought processes that don't even make sense.

There is the usual hysteria from the usual bed wetters. However, surely everyone should be at least a little concerned that with the season about to start it doesn’t look like a single one of our urgent issues have been addressed?
Obviously we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, especially with contract renewals, but no signings is a bit grim at this stage.
I reckon we'll see a couple of late signings like when we signed Thiago and Jota in quick succession a few years back. Wouldn't surprise me if something happened completely out of the blue.

Read a few things saying we’re just not going to go for a 6 now. Let’s see but if so, I regard that as absolutely amateur.
Here’s a list of things Richard Hughes has achieved in his first five months of work:

Was there a delay though? From all reports there was a five day period from agreement to his club telling him he has to pay his buyout clause to him changing his mind.
Good lord I leave you guys for about a week and this is what happens

Has there been any news of Sander Berg link to Liverpool. I'll be waiting for that and assure you it is coming soon, but then nothing happens.

Just waiting for Joyce to condense the scout report on him and then promote how he could be the missing link and we have been after him when he was 15.
