Yes, it's the bar from Star Wars

Dammit you all know who I meant

In all seriousness I said something similar to my mate at work yesterday.

Balotelli definitely has an air of Cantona about him.

Who knows, maybe he will find his home at Anfield.

"Who knows, maybe he will find his home at Anfield."

This is the problem with Balotelli, he needs to find somewhere he is happy and the fans love him.

Liverpool fans love a broken personality so I'm sure he will get the backing of the fans, he just needs to stop the strops and stupid decisions he makes. He's like a moody teenager.

Are any of you concerned about the fact neither he or Sturridge do much in terms of defensive work from the front, I think that part of Suarez' game was/ is massively understated.

Whilst I think he could be a great signing for you, I don't personally see room for he and Sturridge in the starting 11 if you are to win a title.

If you take out the Crystal Palace incident then Cantona was pretty sane during his time in England.

Sturridge does do defensive work.

He isn't Suarez, but then nor is anyone else.

It's a myth that he is lazy.

Also, you have Coutinho, Henderson and Sterling behind who are all prodigious in their work rate.

As long as the midfield still presses high then I don't see less pressing from Sturridge and Balotelli being a major concern.

Also with more pace in the back 4 the defence should be able to move a bit higher (with Lovren's leadership) tightening that space between the high press midfield and the deeper defence.

Title talk is too early anyway, it's a long season.

Balotelli might only be a short term buy until Origi is here and settled, it depends whether he does the business to a greater extent or not.

I'll be very happy if Rodgers can get one season out of him without him having an on pitch sulk.

For the price it's worth the risk as he's cheap and his age and ability means that his price will not depreciate too much, but the way BR and his backroom staff manage him and how he Balotelli interacts with his team mates is key.

One season of on pitch effort from Balotelli is all I'm hoping for tbh, but there is a question mark over whether we will get it.

Cantona spat at a fan and was sent off three times, including two games in succession, in his first full season

Yeah was thinking the arrogance is the main thing they both share...

Never knew about the Leslie Ash thing!

It was against Leeds. He was fined £1k according to wiki

There's a great picture of Cantona sticking his finger up Steve Hodge's nose out there somewhere, but that was definitely more funny than controversial.

I did say yesterday that Balotelli might be a problem
however thinking about it now, I think Brendan is young enough to deal with player like Balotelli. He can relate to them and maybe find what makes them tick, more than say a Mourinho would or a Mancini type manager would. They're both probably more from the old school generation, maybe Mourinho isnt but Mancini certainly is..

IF - I think everyone is being a bit premature on here - we sign Mario, I see it as a fairly risk free deal. Everyone agrees he can be top quality on the pitch. As for his temperament, Brendan will deal with it. He made Suarez train alone for weeks on end after he started being a twot, so Balotelli won't be given the opportunity to disrupt things (if that's how it goes).

If leaving your wife for a younger model and getting your teeth done/fake tan helps someone relate to Mario the Rodgers is the man!
