Turkeys voting for Christmas is a good idea!

posted on 29/1/15

It would be great for the fans but horrible for clubs. No security for them. They want your money in June/July upfront whilst they earn interest on it.

The choice of some people to use the word 're tarded or re tard when suggesting someone is not being that bright is offensive. Grow some vocab you mugs!!!!

How is being forced to pay £40 to watch Cambridge at home or have your season ticket suspended a benefit
===========

1. You freely signed up to this already no one forced you to
2. Are you going to watch Cambridge or Utd?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So if money was tight and I hadn't foreseen a replay against Cambridge on the horizon and I didn't have £40 to spend on it and I didn't and had my ticket suspended would that be something you'd argue against?

Like it or not, by having a threat like this out there the club are forcing people to pay the money for a tie that wasn't even in anyone's mind when the tickets were bought back in June/July
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Before you buy a ticket they warn you about this and even give you an average number of cup games you could expect us to feature in, in a season.

Seems to me you are saying, I signed up for this but will not honour it.

That is dishonest is it not?

U19359, I find that comment offensive to my favourite breakfast receptacle.

Don't bother with Mudd.....he's a moron.

Don't like it, don't sign up to it isn't a valid solution as you'd not get a ticket against likes of City, Chelsea, Liverpool etc in a million years otherwise.

It's an awful system. Us fans have been treated like utter crappp by the parasites since day one. Quite a few people who used to sit near me haven't been for years now. They gave up pretty much as the Auto cup scheme was enforced.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the problem with throwing words and accusations around without thinking them through or reading what people have said.

I have not at any point said the cup scheme is fair/good/right.

I have said, do not sign up for things and then turn around and say, I know I signed up for this, but I do not want it. That quite frankly is stupid and is a breach of contract.

People are lucky they only get to miss 1 game, most breaches of contract end in you losing a lot more

MUDD, you're still not discussing those "separate issues" that you are "happy to discuss".

Is it because if you concede to reasonable arguments I have made, you start to look a bit silly having expended so much energy vehemently defending the enforcement of the scheme?

==============

Exactly, so having a season ticket gives you advantages, right?

Well, since you enjoy those advantages and benefits, is it now fair to moan when some of the "perks" are not to your taste?

I thought owning a season ticket enabled you to watch Utd, the team you love. Is that not the point? Why does the opposition matter?

Hate this arrogant attitude. If our players feel the same then Cambridge will do us over.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you not watch the first game?

Why would i want to pay £40 to watch a league 2 side who are going to come and park the jumbo jet on their 18yr box line.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then you probably do not want to watch 3/4 of the games we play. That is not the basis of a valid argument. You cannot choose which games you want to watch as a season ticket holder. You have decided to watch EVERY game.

I am not defending the enforcement of the scheme, I am asking people to honour their commitments.

Why is that such a horrible thing?

How the hell can united ask 50 quid for this category of game is another valid point.

50 quid for Cambridge.

What is idiotic is that you have paid for something and have been clearly told it comes with these options and now you are whining about the options after agreeing to them in the first place.

That is also very, very, stupid

No just over priced tickets and threats to fans to buy or be suspended.

Yes that's definatly the way to go

The oil comment wow, how original from you mud.

I think Utd needs to review the cup scheme and explore a variety of options;

For example;

1) Cup tickets available for general sale to everyone (no priority to season ticket holders)

2) Cup tickets available available (season ticket holders get first dibs)

I would prefer the first option myself, considering how much "season ticket" holders are moaning about having to pay to watch Cambridge, I thought they were Utd fans

--------------------------------------

The point is, people aren't reneging on a contract. So no one is being dishonest. They are grumbling because they don't like being in this situation, just as they signed up with a heavy heart in the first place.

At the heart of this is the tension between the status of a supporter and and customer. People sign up, despite various things they don't like about the offering, because they see themselves as the former. The club is exploiting this to maximise revenues. In doing so (and in applying the chilly language of contractual obligations), it is treating fans as customers.

You may not agree with me that this disparity may eventually erode the sentimental draw of the club, and therefore the value of the brand (I can think of sports clubs whose popularity is bound up with being widely regarded as being a 'people's club'. But surely you can understand that a certain resentment is natural when Manchester United sees the supporter as a customer to be milked, while for the supporter, following Manchester United isn't just a customer-business relationship?

Your comments about the cup scheme make it appear that this is a new development.

We all know it is not.

Now going back to the oil comment, if your club was not bankrolled by the sheikhs and you had to keep your stars and generate profits, what do you think the costs of your tickets will be?

Are you going to the Cambridge match or is that one of the games you "can't" get to?

I bet you're not. So your opinion isn't welcomed. You're not going and will be watching it on the beeb so shut it.

I doubt Bayern would make you pay £50 for a German Cup game, are they owned by an oil baron?

You are hugely overestimating match day revenue if you think you need to charge that to be fair Mudd.

You really are a big baby aren't you? So I am not allowed to express an opinion because I am not going to a game? I thought the debate was about honouring your commitments?

Alas, I am not going to the cup game against Cambridge as I will be away on a business trip. I cannot exactly tell my bosses I want to watch Utd so cancel the meeting and vessel visit.

I have been to many midweek cup games though. I enjoy them and you can get your preferred tickets easier.

I know for sure however that if I had paid for a season ticket I would not be crying on here about having to go to see Cambridge.
