There was a BBC documentary recently called 'smack in suburbia' about the huge rise in opiate abuse in the US, and particularly in reasonably affluent communities. Apparently there is some synthetic substitute which is being mixed in, which is so much stronger that's it's causing so many ODs.

Don't know about a synthetic substitute being mixed in, but opiate use and addiction is definitely a problem. Would say I see it maybe.. weekly?
Maybe it wasn't synthetic... but something (I recall Chinese) that has similar effects but is much stronger. think it begins with A or M
Methadone? Probably not that though. Soma?

I doubt the opioids are helping.
I have Naproxen... which isn't an opiate
