Don't think Everton are all that, absolutely shocked by how little they've bought considering how weak their squad is imo.

I'm hoping this one drags on a bit as we want Stones in the Everton team for our opening game.

I have Everton down as my dark horses this year.

They do need to go out and make some decent buys.

Will you find it funny when City beat you twice this season with Stones in defence and finish above you?

Stones is a decent young defender, don't see why he get's o much grief, I guess it's cause he has been tiotally over hyped, but he's not rubbish and IMO will be a very good player, should suit a Guardiola team where he will be on the ball allot more.

He needs out of Everton anyway, dreadful club, ground & fans .

50 million its officially silly season in Manchester , you have the shieks spending money for the sake of it and then the Devils wanting an overrated cm for over 100 mill.

I would expect city to finish above spurs with or without stones, so I don't really see your point.

just because you Manchester boys are trying to out mug each other off, don't take it out on me

I'm not the one laughing about the potential signing so is that relevant?

But no I won't find it funny, I think Stones has great potential.

Same, I think he could become a very good defender working under Pep.

But. he's awful now and isn't worth anything close to £50m.

Talk about paying for potential

Go to about 4-5 Everton games a season and Stones is usually one of the stand out players on the pitch.

Too many people jumping on the bandwagon because of a few bad games (under one of the worst managers Everton ever had). The lad has unbelievable potential and I'm sure in a few years people won't even remember his price tag, much like they forgot how obscenely expensive Rio was for a defender in 2002.

Absolutely facking hate comments like this, essentially you're saying that all of the people who don't rate stones are wrong and that you're opinion is write, so you are actually one of these 'experts', no?

I'm not an expert, no. But I'll trust my own judgement when watching a player live for many hours over some stranger on the internet whose opinion seems to be garnered from 2 minute clips on Match of the Day.

That ok with you kissyfur?

But I could say the same thing, that I'll trust my judgment over the games I've watched him play then your opinion which seems to be garnered from some YouTube highlight reels showing him off.

It's all opions, and you coming out and acting like your opinion is factual and everyone's opinion that goes against that is wrong makes you into one of these 'experts'

Stones is very talented. He's young, raw, and could develop into something very special.

But £50m is laughable. If he came to Spurs right now on a FREE transfer, he wouldn't break into our first 11. He might just about scrape a spot on the bench, and then over the next couple seasons develop into a first team player.

But it's all context. For Spurs to spend 50m on a player he'd need to be pretty much the best player in the squad, and walk straight into the first 11.

For City to spend 50m, eh, no big deal. If he works out then great, if not, it's only 50m.....

it's a fair point, seems that if stones does arrive mangala might leave, possibly on loan....£40m + on a CB, and shipping him out on loan after 2 seasons...

just as they did with their strikers in fact, they had to throw away tens of millions on Jo/Santa Cruz/Robinho before landing Aguero.

You're saying that because people don't rate stones they've clearly never watched him play just because you have a different opinion.

So I could say that because you rate stones you've clearly never watched him play just because you have a different opinion.

The likelihood is that neither of these things are true and that its just people havin different opinions on players. So stop acting like you're opinion is factual, it's arrogant and narcissistic

John Stones is a top quality centre back. Dont be confused because Martinez served him up last season as the sacrificial lamb. Lumping pressure on a young player who then surprise surprise makes loads of mistakes.

Reminds me of Sergio Ramos not just playing right back and centre back but his style on the ball really cultured but can tackle with ease.

Half a season with Pep and Kompany, head shoulders knees john stones will be one of the top defenders in the league.

50 mill is 50 mill city always pay them fees, clubs expect that when they come knocking.

To be fair chronic comparing with wimmer aint right. Wimmer was 5th choice austria centre back and 4th choice Koln centre back. The price was a fair one given what had been shown.
