Non competitive fixture so it’s not a trophy.

This. It’s nice to win it but not important.

It's good to get there, but it's not a trophy.
Further more GB, far from collecting them, you are about to look three of them.

Nope, you’ve still got it wrong.
It’s “temporarily give back”.
Glad I could help.

absolutely correct.

the community fa slush fund should is just a preseason friendly.

all the cups go back. a hungry club says day 1 of preseason (hopefully next week) that they start from zero.

thats the attitude our team and manager need to have nothing else.

fans can bladder on about pots in the cabinet at each other all day long but the important thing is the approach the club takes to the coming season.

fa cup, not our thing, eueope, not our thing. others need to do those. september12th is our focus not an meaningless friendly on 29th August.

Nah..it's simple:

League
CL
Europa Cup
FA Cup
League Cup
Super Cup
World club

They are the only recognised trophies you can count.

To be fair it's pretty meaningless this year. They won't raise a great deal for charities with no fans paying to get in to the ground.
Should either scrap it this year or we should give some of the fringe squad players a run out.
As a trophy I personally think it's insignificant.

Only three trophies are relevant, in my book:

Premier League;
Champions' League;
FA Cup (even that is dwindling).

The rest are, as has been said, certainly 'nice' to win, but I wouldn't be giving it the biggun', as my friend Frank would say.

Year we won Europa was important to me only because it got us into the CL. As a contrast, I don't care if we win it this year, but it would be 'nice' and possibly instill a winning mentality into a few of the players at the club who have yet to win anything.

In that vein - the winning mentality / arrogance that goes with winning - they're all important, I guess

TBH When we reduce down to only the league and CL we really end u being narrow focused and elitist in attitude.

I don't personally like it but klopp does it as he can't compete.

This years league cup has finished it for me. The record holders were treated like dirt due to a fifia mandated commitment. the EFL running it also puts it in context. It could easily be cancelled next season with covid. UEFA would love to force the FA to assign the europa spot to the league as well.

in the normal world there are 4 comps in europe. Domestic league, domestic cup, CL and europa.

theres a uefa slush fun cup and a fifa slush fun cup and both are mandated as competitive trophies by those organisations.

The FA do not mandate the community slush fund shield as a competitive game.

While these are just for kicks and the fat cats having a slush fund but they do have a lot of money for the clubs

Charity shield is a pointless game

Shouldn't bother this year as alluded to above it won't raise much with no fans

Time to get rid and anyone considering it a major trophy. FFS give your head a wobble
