Not only that,you realise that you are fairly healthy at 31 years of age and you don't want to be playing week in week out for less money and be more likely to get a serious injury in doing so.

hes just lazy and happy with making money.. Most footballers wish to play football. he doesn't care at all. that's the mindset.
I can't blame him. It was our fault as a club and, in particular, our part as fans who made selling him politically impossible. We were so desperate to show that we were a big club that he's now a barrier to becoming one.

The PR spin that he comes out with is what makes him a though, sly little comments to turn the fanbase against each other and the club. working harder doesn't really apply here, most players enjoy playing and want to play as much as possible, there's players who would and have taken pay cuts to play more. It depends on the attitude of the player.
