To play more aggressively, clearly. I think Ramsdale to Raya is a sideways move to someone whose style that Arteta favours, but to pretend Ramsdale is better and hasn't subsequently just folded under the pressure of competition seems like you're just revising history to me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"folded under the pressure of competition "
do you REALLY think Arteta was EVER going to drop Raya regardless of how they both played? be honest
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly. He's made mistakes in the past and backtracked on them when people have put in performances that forced him to do so. Ramsdale didn't even come close, despite Raya being far from perfect.
If they are then pray for City as the Wolves will feast on their blood.
you could argue Raya folded under pressure because in his first 5 or 6 games he cos us goal after goal. Ramsdale would have been gone after one mistake. but Arteta stuck with Raya. how is ramsdale meant to compete with that sort of unfair backing?
Just don't understand the pining for Ramsdale. He makes just as many mistakes, without the added benefits Raya gives you

im not even twerking for Ramsdale as such. i'd have him and raya gone for Emi. which is kinda going back to my original point in that Arteta royally feked up with selling Emi

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could, but it's totally understandable why Arteta would back him when he's new to the club.
Yes Ramsdales opportunities have been few and far between but when he's come in all he's done is show that he's an option that makes a similar amount of mistakes but isn't brave enough to play how Arteta wants.
lets just get Allison, Liverpool are gonna be chit without Klopp.
Raya is asked to catch every cross while also playing as a 3rd CB to allow us more control and dominance. It allows the team to score more and concede less.
This should be pretty obvious by now. This cuckfest for Ramsdale needs to end. The lad actively told people he has difficulty concentrating unless he has away fans to wind up. I like him, but this is big boy stuff.

But again, if Emi didn't have the mindset to deal with the idea of competition, its on him that he left and not Arteta
What if I told you emi has been largely average for villa?
Mikel Arteta had a huge selection headache on his hands at the start of the new season when deciding who should start in goal between Martinez and Leno but after being told there was only a '95 per cent chance' he would play at Fulham, that's when he decided to seek out a fresh challenge.
But yeah it's Artetas fault. Noone should be guaranteed a start.

but you know Arteta's idea of competition is pick his fav and stick with it. Emi knew Arteta would have dropped him as soon as he a single mistake and then Emi would be back to a second choice keeper with little options for a big move a year later .

you know its true. Arteta hates a big ego like Emi. lil cuckers like Leno were perfect for him
Has this site been totally fecked for anyone else for last week or so? It’s basically text only for me. Happened a couple months back as well
I disagree. I think some players have to work harder to change Artetas mind than others but he's not stupidly stubborn.
With each new GK we've moved further away from Leno and Arteta replaced him as soon as he got the chance with a signing he was mostly derided for, he wanted Leno gone so badly.
I think he'd have loved Emi to stick around but out of principle couldn't say he's guaranteed 100% to start, cos why should he be?
Think that’s your phone pal
good chats all round. im off to get pizza
Emi was hurt by years of abuse by Wenger and Emery. Once a manager showed him love he couldn't handle it and cried.
