Given England’s pretty dismal performances, chances are India would have won anyway. However both the start and end of this series really does show the cricket world only really cares about the short formats of the games. Test cricket is on its last legs.

Just out of interest though what would've happened if during the test say day 2 a couple of the Indian batters developed Covid symptoms and then tested positive?

That would have been fair enough to pull out with good reason. Fact is they all tested negative and bottled it because of the IPL.

England will loose against Australia series I think because not easy to play their and need strong mental and long struggle.

India thoroughly deserved this series win. And they did it with an iffy middle order

Their openers and bowlers were quite incredible

There is a part of me that is glad we lost this series. Those who follow Englsnd closely can't fail to see the faults and concerns that have been in the county game and schedule for some years now and can see how it's infiltrating to the Test side

The reliance on Root, Stokes, Anderson and more recently on Archer have been huge. The failure for players to progress successfully into county cricket to the Test side is down to a lesser degree the County set up failing England and much more relevantly the scheduling and attitude of the ecb to the White ball game

Logic explains this. Not least from a conditions perspective but all you need to do is review the quality available to England in Tests whereas in white ball we could name 2 to 3 top class sides

Well done again to India. A top side who showed the discipline we couldn't

Yep agree. Can understand under Strauss why we focused on white ball at the time. We got the 50 over competition and are now very strong in white ball

That's great, I want to see us succeed but it's gone too far to the extent its damaged county cricket and then the Test side. We need to be playing the County championship in June July and August. If that means alongside the white ball competitions so be it. We need to change the county point scoring structure to reward the factors that matter to Test cricket such as long batting - perhaps less on the win but more the grafted draws and the like

Equally bizarre is the comment about players not born in England. We live in a multicultural society where people move freely. I myself have 6 different nationalities making up my parents and grandparents. For the record in that last test there were 10 players born in England only Malan wasn't- not that it really matters.
