Chelsea vs Watford
The home side had a clear gameplan to dominate possession and they had the quality and tactics to execute it. They always looked dangerous and capable of breaking through the Watford defence, and with the majority of possession the chances and goals came. The away side had a tall order to come away with something from this one, they had a good balance and the pace and tidiness of their players in possession when they won the ball meant they had the gameplan and quality in cm and up top in particular to get back at Chelsea on the break. Chelsea deserved their lead, which looked to be a two goal margin. Watford however went all out with the subs and grabbed a consolation.
Mbappe (Ferran), Ferran (Mbappe), Halaand (Mbappe) ; Nunez (Raum), Nunez (Lindstrom)
Motm: Mbappe
Man City vs Arsenal
Two well balanced sides where each had more quality in different areas of the park, Arsenal just with the edge perhaps, with their inexperienced cbs covered well by the midfield. I thought the game plans of both could be clearer. The away side carried the greater attacking threat, especially down the wings where the City fbs needed all the help they could get but seemed to lack a killer touch at times. The home side’s cbs and dms had a busy day but full of quality and dealt with the threat that was thrown at them. The home side broke well with great pace and trickery matched with Schicks’ hold up play. A very even game, even the subs both sides had quality introduced, and both stretched the game. Although Kroos looked flabbergasted that he started on, and was left on the bench. Slots very even but the dice fell in the away sides favour.
City 1 - 2 Arsenal
Schick (Sane) ; Dybala (Jota), Aubameyang (Saka)
Motm: Dybala
