Mainoo didn’t lose the ball once did he? Him and Gallagher kept the ball pretty well when given the opportunity. Mainoo just offers the ability to receive and keep the ball under pressure, composure this side lack in general.

No team has been THAT impressive so far. I mean, Germany did win 5-1, but it was only Scotland. With 10 men. Spain had a very flattering scoreline over Croatia, conceding enough chances to have dropped points. Expected England to lay down a marker today and was disappointed.

Hopefully Southgate learns his lesson. Foden on the left gives us no balance, and even if he did, he just didn’t play well,

TAA out for any of Gallagher, Mainoo or Wharton. We need more control in the middle.

In Kane’s defence he was fouled pretty much every time he had the ball.

Tough game for him he was up against it, their cb was bullying him at times. Hes just back from an injury too remember. Looked to struggle to keep up with attacks at time. Outside of that i dont blame him too much credi to the cb etc and first half he kept them deep. 2nd half they changed it and thats when southgate could have subbed him, he should have scored still though when he was kept on.

people are talking like we conceded 15 shots and were hanging on, Serbia didn't have a sniff

This is the issue I guess, he will have a plan and I don’t see him deviating from it.

Taking Foden out for a natural wide man is a must. I don’t think he can continue with the Trent in CM experiment, if he can’t do it against Serbia, he will struggle at this level:

I don't think Mainoo really did anything other than being a fresh body at the end. Gallagher was the one that made the difference. On the other hand Mainoo didn't do anything bad either.
