Yeah I didn't like guns in either BF1 or BF5. I know they were trying to be faithful to the era the games were set but I found them frustrating.

the guns I liked, I like the older guns , i also think the era meant that single fire rifles were far far more viable in BF1.
it was the preset recoil not being there and every gun every time having different recoil behaviour.
Granted most wouldnt have noticed this but its something I did.
Yeah BF4 is an epic game and still holds up well. It's up there with the very best FPS games made I think and blows many CoD titles out of the water.
From memory I think there was too much recoil on most of the guns I would normally like to use in BF1&5.
the older CoDs couldnt hold a candle to what BF could do.
the ballistics and gun play in BF was leagues ahead.
Not the case anymore however and CoD's engine is actually far more detailed and realistic than BFs now.
Dice have lost so much funding and talent its hurting them far too much. They tried to follow the herd and piggy back on the back of what other FPS games were doing to their detriment. And now they are in a deap hole I dont think they can get out and BF may be coming to an end soon.
the game engine in the new CoD is by a mile the best they have ever created (since Mw2019) CoD;s ballistics and engine have been as good as any other big name in the FPS genre. one of the main reasons that Warzone has done so well
I'm still baffled why they didn't just make Battlefield 5 a modern day setting follow up to Battlefield 4. Would have been so much simpler than doing what they did.

money reasons i believe.
Believe it or not due to their low budget i dont think they could afford the licencing for the newer guns, which is why they went into the future for the next.
Firearm licencing gets more and more expensive with every year. Even CoD didnt bother this year.
For me the best shooters in recent years I have enjoyed the most have been :
MAG : one of the most underated fps there has been IMO.
BF4 : almost perfect at the time, defo feels a bit janky nowadays however.
Planteside 2 (from the makers of MAG) this was the same game essentially on a much bigger scale.
Warzone: it maybe commercial and aimed at the massed but the original Verdansk period of playing it was as good as any FPS experience Iv had.
Off the top of my head, granted I will prob missed a few obv ones there.

Because 4 took so much fixing - people look back now and remember it nostalgicly but you need to remember it took almost a year to fix the disastrous launch and almost the same amount of time getting the players back.....and also it was more 3.5 than a true 4, 2142 flopped, and CoD was wanning. People were tired of "modern day" shooters. And BF1 was fantastic - absolutely a fresh of breath air in what was becoming a somewhat stale genre. Not sure how they managed to completely miss the mark with 5, again another awful launch I don't think they ever recovered from.......though they did sort of fix everything eventually, and this is why I am worried they may just the bare minimum on 2042 before moving on.

BF4 .... the whole lobby in chat ... DO NOT BLOW UP THE TOWER in operation locker or DO NOT BLOW UP THE BUILDING on shanghai or the game crashed, that was like that for about 4 months!
Dice has had some of the worst problems for me.
true story ... I had Bf3 ... had been playing it for about 2 months decided screw it im gonna upgrade to the platinum version.
no word of a lie, I DL it and n the first game loading it up wiht my mates I spawned in without a gun, just bare hands and couldnt melee or punch people all i could do was run around and tag/spot people.
the game stayed like this for about 3 months (no lie) and I couldnt play it. Dice refused to refund the money also.
So depsite being one of my favourites I have also been badly burned by BF

Battlefield 1 was brilliant and was the only Battlefield 1 was the only BF I ever played, always been a Cod guy. Not a fan of the direction COD has gone mind, seasonal prestige, operetors, operator bundles, integrating warzone etc. Would definitely like to try a Battlefield game again.
Yeah Battlefield definitely needs a huge comeback. The next Battlefield game need to be really good because I don't want COD dominating like they are right now.
Also how much longer are new COD titles going to be available on PlayStation anyway?

no chance , only 11% of cod sales for mw2 were pc.
"57% of sales came on PlayStation formats (42% on PS5), with nearly 33% on the Xbox platforms and nearly 11% on PC."
Cod is developed for consoles and ported to PC not the other way around.
more chance it gets dropped from PC
games like this should always be console focused.

cos they are bought mostly by people on consoles.
they are casual games designed for casual gamers.
there is a lot of competitive play on Cod also so in that respect better on console.
I see they have just added 128 player infantry only conquest to Battlefield... might get me to re-install it
