Are Spain the biggest sore losers ever?

They've been bad losers in general, if I recall Rodri had some sour grapes when they lost to Scotland in that qualifier recently.

Criticism for celebrating seems to be a general thing these days, no idea why you can't celebrate scoring in a euro final ffs

England are probably the worst for this though

Spain and Spanish teams always do it. If they lose, it's because the other team play negative football or don't play football in the "right way". To ssers.

almost every time England lose, particularly in a major tournament. I'm English btw

To be fair, England have lost so many more times than any other 'big' nation that they obviously have plenty of bad losing moments.

The fans and media maybe, but I'm specifically talking about the players. I don't ever remember the players saying the other team played in the wrong way or shouldn't have celebrated.

Casual racism and a daily mail link.

Another morning in Brexit Britain

Where's the racism? Is it not true that Spain and Spanish teams moan a lot about losing, and aren't gracious losers?

Can you answer my questions in the OP? Why should Palmer have to apologise?

posted on 10/7/23

He shouldn't and I'm not sure anyone has said he has?

Paella b*stards may be considered casually racist by some.

The England players’ response was spontaneous

Better than some cute routine they had practiced for hours

To be fair I've never really seen the England team be bad losers. I always think they handle defeats with a fair bit of dignity.

The English press on the other hand...

Palmer throwing himself to the floor at every given opportunity was pretty cringy tbf

We’re really not. I’d say we’re the polar opposite, we go out of our way to seem as sporting as we can. Good old British chivalry and all that.

Yes. See their reaction and comments after they lost to scotland at hampden not too long ago. Absolutely embarassingly cringeworthy stuff.

Can't see any other quote from Gomez other than

'It surprised me.

‘He didn’t want to apologise or anything like some of his other teammates.

‘I don’t know, I would have celebrated it in a different way and my teammates would have done it in a different way as well.'

That's all he said from what I can tell. Maybe I'm missing something.

This is a country that thinks it’s ok to throw live goats off the top of bell towers too.

I actually made paella for lunch yesterday. It was pretty good. But I think I knew who my father was.

So he’s saying he thought he should have apologised. It’s quite obvious from the quote you’ve posted.

Barbaric, fortunately been banned for many years in all but the minds of Daily Mail readers.

Unfortunately, bullfights still haven't, despite public polling repeatedly showing that only a small minority are in favour.

Ironically, it's the right and far right where these kinds of traditions find the bulk of their support. I somehow can't imagine it was the Communist Party of Great Britain who most strongly supported fox hunting either.

Chivalry's such a quintessential feature of Britishness that you had to borrow a French term for it.

I don't really see it like that, tbh I see it as a complete non issue and typical Daily Heil reporting but each to their own.
