You do realise it is the owners debt don’t you which is less than the clubs value? If Sheikh Mansour bought Man Utd instead of the Glazers it would have been no debt and millions of £’s for Sheikh Mansour. That just shows you how bad the Glazers are.

This reads like someone who is sheiting their pants about a huge punishment coming for their side

I doubt Man City get done. Reminds me of Michael Masi race fixing result standing in 2021. Everyone knows it was fixed and wrong but nothing gets done about it.

What will be, will be. If the charges are proven and the punishment is proportionate. So be it.

Isn't supposed to be about 'sustainability'?

How can a debt free club with a £700m turnover not be sustainable especially if the owners are worth Billions.

posted on 17/11/23

The Everton one is a bit odd in terms of the punishment.

Doesn’t detract from it we’re found guilty or all of it, we should face a far worse sanction, but I really don’t get the logic of punishing a club more for an ffp breach than going into administration. It makes a mockery of it being about sustainability really.

Wouldn’t be surprised if their punishment is reduced to six points by the appeals committee though.

Man Utd most sustainable club in England. Glazers would have sold out if they had bought pretty much any other club. If Man Utd wasn’t a highly commercial club, the Glazers would have had to sell up many years ago so Man Utd being successful commercially is only reason debt ain’t £4-5BN. The fact it is only £1BN is a miracle.

You signed up to these rules though but clearly never intended to adhere by them. Or rather you didn't think you'd get caught.

You think us Utd fans care about sanctions? We'd welcome it as it would only hasten the departure of the people who put us in debt in the first place.

Just accept that you're a tinpot club that had to cheat to win and we can all move on.

MASSIVE cheats!!!!!

You’re really doubling down on our guilt aren’t you SE.

Out of interest, given I’ll accept any punishment that comes our way, how will you feel if we’re found not guilty…?

I saw this coming a decade ago and you know I did as the articles are all still here to read.
I have never been so sure of anything in my life. Those leaked emails weren't faked. City were up to no good and got caught with their pants down.

No doubt all your office staff have had extensive Phishing training since that day and don't click on links in dodgy looking emails anymore.

I have never heard a convincing argument yet why a 20 yr old Portuguese hacker would have it in for a team from Manchester either. Why? Because there is no argument. The fact he's now in jail for blackmail is irrelevant. Clearly this lad messes with dangerous and powerful people.

If you're found not guilty it will be the end of the PL. Nobody is going to believe it. No chance the best run league in world football goes public on 115 charges like that and gets it all totally wrong. They'd look so so stupid if so.

Let's not forget Chelsea here either before we start feeling sorry for ourselves. You're not being picked on quite clearly as other teams are being sanctioned / investigated too.

The ironic thing about all this is that City didn't even need to cheat. Had they stayed within their limits of course the climb to the top would have taken longer than it did but it would probably still have come regardless such is the advantages that you have.

This is the thing about regimes though. They don't play by the rules. They make the rules.

Every club is financially cheating in some way. Goes with the terrify when you get into bed with temptresses holding cash. That ship sailed years ago, let’s not take the high ground and pretend (any) club is innocent here.

(That means off your high horse se85, because I bet we’ve probably got stuff to hide too)

Maybe, though I doubt it. Anyway there's levels. Just because your club might not be perfect doesn't mean you can't point out where others are blatantly cheating.

10 points is ridiculously harsh and will probably be reduced.

Going by what’s happened to Everton, City will be lucky to get away with a 115 point deduction.

City should get a Rangers type punishment & be relegated to the bottom league AND also a 5 year transfer ban.

What a load of bullsheet.

It's like saying everyone has committed a crime in their life so we shouldn't get worked up about murderers.

Get off your high horse and leave that murderer alone

Man City and Chelsea are the two most financially doped cheating clubs of the 21st century, by a countrymile.

Both should be thrown out of the Prem, down several rungs of the football pyramid. No punishment would be to severe for these two clubs, that have basically ruined football in the 21st century with their greed.

posted on 18/11/23

City should be demoted if the punishment adds up but the reality is City will get away with probably a pointless fine.

Lord Pannick is in charge of City's legal defence and he doesn't get £10k a day because he has a cool name.

He will be investigating all the clubs who have pressured the PL into charging Cityand will make syre there's an awful lot of dirty laundry that will be aired in public.

Pesonally I can't wait fot the hearing to begin, it could possibly bring the whole Premier Leagye down as we know it.

In any sport if you break the rules anything that was won while doing so should be taken away.

As well as that it's hard to imagine how much CL money has been robbed from other clubs who would have qualified had those 2 not been regularly stealing 2 out of 4 places.

posted on 18/11/23

I'm not aware of any cheating that has altered results in a game that is tightly officiated with a set of rules laid out from the grass roots to the very top.

Historically, Leeds and Forest have been victims of corruption but as far as I can see, there have been no charges laid against City or any other club concerning match fixing or bribing officals which is the very definition of cheating.

Don’t think anyone thinks we’re being picked on. Chelsea is a completely different scenario though, they’ve identified their own breach.

The emails alone I highly doubt are anywhere near enough proof (or in some cases credible) as shown at CAS, I’ve always assumed the PL has more evidence than that.

I don’t get the logic of “no way would the PL do that”. There’s plenty of reasons why they would. That’s a very odd logic to use as justification for we must be guilty then.
