My family have had season ticks at OT since 1986. For me footy is a tradition I like to spend with my dad, nephews, friends watching the English game, which is part of our countries dna.

This to me, is just further commercialisation and capitalisation, of an industry that is organically successful, and is part of our countries heritage (mainly due to the dedication of fans).

Unfortunately, as is the way of the world, a corporation (or collection of individuals) wants to exploit and monetise this further than it needs to be, just for their own greed.

Seems inevitable and is a such shame. I will not be paying to watch United take part in that, I can confirm.

But if, they can still compete in the Prem League, F.A Cup.. would it be such a bad thing.
I mean I’m just going off their proposal, which I’ll go through properly, but, just based on what I’ve heard so far, it sounds a lot better than what was first proposed.

The Super League proposes a minimum of 14 games at the group stages. 7 home, 7 away.

Apply that to 64 clubs across Europe.

Looks like an absolute nightmare for the domestic competitions under the current football calendar.

They have just put out a short 2 minute YouTube video.

Looks like a vertically integrated combo of Champions League, Europa and Europa League.

Where the only meaningful "meritocracy" to be found is at the bottom of a 64-club pyramid.

A closed shop in everything but name at the end of the day. All the "big" clubs are pretty much set for life.

How is it any more of a closed shop than what we have now?

In every country, in every season, it's the same teams that get Champion League football. This system would allow probably half the teams in the Prem to play some form of European football.

I mean, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Spurs just exchange European spots between them. Sometimes a Brighton or West Ham gets in. This system will maintain these teams in European competition but open opportunities for other teams that would hardly ever play a European game to regularly appear in European competition.

Under the current system, qualification for Europe is earned on the back of a solid domestic season. Every single season.

The proposed Super League would entrench a football version of the "Peerage". Where clubs would have to drop 44 Super League places in order to lose qualification.

Hence the hashtag #EarnItOnThePitch.
