I don’t know. Can you tell me who all of United’s number tens were?

He's having a terrible season, and has had other bad ones. But let's not forget he's had a few seasons when he's been a good shout for our best player. Does that count, or do we have to consider only what we think of him right now when we judge him against other players?

If it counts for him, then it should count for other players. If he is to be defined by his two good performances, why are other players defined merely by their poor ones? I’ve said this three years ago: the overprotection that Rashford receives from the media and fan will turn against him. Today he was booed by our fans as well as Coventry fans.

Maybe we should try to take a rounded view of all our players, and not hate on any of them when they are going through a tough time? Those who quickly turn on them, show them contempt, when they are playing badly don't really have licence to share in the moment when they are on fire. Personally, I just find it quite painful to see Rashford the way he is at the moment, because he's one of our own, has given us so many great moments and important contributions, and he can't be enjoying the way it's going right now.

The issue is..... Antony proved when he came on exactly why a hugely out of sorts Rashford keeps getting picked. 😂

Rashford is having an absolute mare of season. A total disaster which should cost him a Euros place let's be frank and yet he's still contributed more than that useless Brazilian has. He's not even scored a PL goal yet this season has he? Two FA cup goals for £85m?

posted 3 weeks, 6 days ago

After that horrible performance from him today and getting booed by a section of our fans at Wembley , be on the lookout for some sort of statement defending him and telling us how much he loves the club over the next 48 hours

posted 3 weeks, 6 days ago

Was at the game and I thought Rashford, Garnacho, Hojlund and Antony when he came on were all embarrassing. Not a single one of them played even okay today. All total passengers who look like total strangers playing together.

Dalot Maguire Onana and Bruno did okay. The rest of them were a joke.

I have been saying it for years, that Rashford has been fortunate that he has not been let go from Manchester United, in similar fashion to a number of his predecessors.

The only thing that went for him was that we have not had a genuine set of world-class strikers in the squad.

Amazing how 'hyped' he was last season.

Quite a bit of speculation about Thomas Tuchel being out next manager tonight.

A supposedly very reliable journalist from Kicker says United have already contacted his people which would suggest ETH is definitely gone soon.

I agree with the overall sentiment here. Where I'd depart is that it's not even Rashford's form that is the problem. The biggest issue is his pathetic work rate off the ball, which we've seen become a prominent feature of his game over several seasons now. Not tracking runners back, not closing people down, not challenging for the ball in the air, pulling out of challenges... None of that is excusable, *especially* when struggling for form. If you're struggling for form, the minimum requirement is to compensate through effort and graft.

As for his form... I just don't think he's that good. He's capable of the odd exceptional season, but I don't think he's at the kind of level where we're ever to likely see him produce consistently over multiple seasons. The biggest thing he lacks in his game is a football brain on par with the best players in his position (plus other smaller deficiencies that add up), hence we see consistently poor decisions from him in game (even when in goalscoring form). He has a lot of bad habits in his game (he's not alone there!), and I'm not sure those bad habits are going to disappear any time soon. Some of that is down to coaching and I've talked previously about how I think some of these poorer habits were allowed to fester under Ole in terms of the way Rashford was used. If it wasn't for the extensive rebuilding we need this summer, I'd probably be seriously tempted to go after a striker and a wide attacker if I were INEOS.

If you think he's bad now, wait until he loses his pace. We need to cash in while we still can.

posted 3 weeks, 5 days ago

If the plan is to sell Rashford this summer.....we aren't going about it the right way are we? All we are doing is making him less desirable trying to play him back into form.

Antony again today showed exactly why Rashford has been continued to be picked. I wouldn't have that useless Brazilian in my works team. He's not even as good as the lads Coventry have ffs. At least we know Rashford has good spells in him occasionally and the odd good season. Antony could be here for another decade and he'd never get any better as he's simply crap.

To who? Genuinely who can afford him? PSG don't seem to be that keen now with a new coach. I don't see any other club with the money to pay his wages coming in for him. Saudi league could be the only escape route for him but would he go there? I don't think so at 26.

Awful season, quite unlike last, for those with milk shelf life memory skills

posted 3 weeks, 5 days ago

what a chit day. And yet we got to the Cup final.
Thats where United supporters are under Ten hag. Instead of celebrating you are looking for Cov fans to apologise to. Sack the bald fraud tomorrow and let someone like the MOTM today Maguire with Bruno to pick the team to play City. The remaining PL games mean nothing whatsoever.

Well done Coventry. You did all you could. But it wasnt a penalty and it was off-side. But what a 20 mins for you. And probably the worst 20 mins in United history.

As for the OP, Give me a list of every United No10.

Off the top of my head I can think of about 6 No10s that were worse than Rashford. There were probably more that I dont know of.... well before my time anyway.

Are you under some kind of contractual obligation to point out how bad Antony is whenever Rashford's form is brought into sharper focus?

Everybody knows Antony is not up to it, and that's also why he's barely getting a start for us anymore.

Don't want him anywhere near this club but even he'd set us up with more structure than this moron does. We wouldn't be troubling City Arsenal and Liverpool but we also wouldn't concede 30 shots a game either.

I think if we can get Tuchel then we have to do it. We can't carry on with the Dutch Bielsa. This brand of football might be amazing for neutrals but its constant torture for the fans seeing us ripped to shreds by even average championship sides like today.

Get him done. Sick of the excuses. He's not good enough.

But he's one of the first bench options that usually ETH turns to. That's the whole point. If he was good Rashford wouldn't be starting all the time would he?

He's picked him constantly hoping he finds his form from last season to paper over the cracks again in his terrible coaching. Also because the guy he signed to come and deliver has failed.

Amad could be given more of a run but he's still very raw too. Think he'd struggle too in this team personally.

Relax. Under sir Gareth our creative midfield of Rice, Henderson and Phillips, will concede no shots, or create them. We will win the league with draws (have it on good authority the PL have noticed the big clubs are drawing games and want to award 10 points per draw to the money making big guns, and 1 point to the provincial nonce clubs when there’s a draw).

Im refusing to blame ETH today.

How can a person who is taught and starts life being competitive in front of family friends and general public, is paid hundreds of thousands of pounds accept being made to look like a numpty by players who shouldn't be on the same pitch as him?

And no not just Rashford.

You start a game and control possession, passing it around at 0-0. Then you go 3 - 0 up. Without busting a gut. You Make the lower leagues team look...well like a lower league team.

Then all of a sudden you lose composure, you look like the lower league team, you don't deserve to be on the same pitch. Do you really need a manager, coach, director, owner, captain, team mate to tell you to get your act together and show these whipper snappers why you get the mega bucks?

Just not having it. Even Sunday league or the local 5 a side player knows to help at the back when under the cosh and to get forwards when you are controlling the game.

Feck ETH and his bald head but no way am I blaming him today. Even his subs were bang on. You take the two young players who have been at it all season and say "thanks lads but we have some wise heads (Eriksen/ that can see this game out. It's only 20 minutes left".

I get the eth out but these players with that attitude would throw SAF under the bus. You can't sell em all at once

Probably not ...

... but then that's not the point.

He's one of an increasingly larger number of players that have gotten away with being in the starting line-up despite NEVER being good enough to justify it.

It was obvious even to little ol' me that he had "peaked" (as a journeyman midfielder) about 7 seasons back.

He just hasn't got the nous to have moved on from that plateau. Nowt wrong with that, a journeyman, at the right level in any position at any club, is useful as just that.

But he should not be a regular starter in league games - although, after today, perhaps not even in cup games either.

You could just say has there been a worse left winger and yes would be the answer.

He's not a number 10 in any way shape or form. Rooney was a 10.

posted 3 weeks, 5 days ago

He’s no where near the worst

We get it, you were great under Fergie and best part of a century ago when playing in black and white, but the rest of the time Utd have been an utter banter club considering their size.

Terry Gibson, Jesper Olsen, Clayton Blackmore and I could probably go on if I cba to check properly
