He's like a wounded animal that simply needs putting out of his misery now.

The excuses are as pathetic as his ability to set up a team. Burnley were the better team and played the better football overall. Should have been 2 up by half time easily.

I have been saying he's not good enough for months but now I'm starting to really dislike the man. He's utter crap and talks utter tosh too. Can't wait till he's gone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not looking good, the new structure will have a big decision to make this summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The decision has already been made. It's just not public knowledge yet.

Southgate is the next United manager I reckon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You know it
----------------------------------------------------------------------

😂

God no. Hahaha.

Although even the waistcoat wouldn't set us up this poorly. It's true we'd never get close to major trophies but we'd at least be able to stop facing 500 shots a game. 😂

Southgate would be the most gutsy move ever from INEOS as nobody wants him. Can't see them risking it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ashworth wants him. It’s done
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ashworth hasn't even succeeded in getting Ashworth yet
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s inevitable, either get behind sir Gareth or support city. Dems your options buster

I remember the 04/05 side, missed nearly every chance we got that season.

posted 2 weeks, 3 days ago

The new manager will be a trainer type manager. He wont decide the style of play although he will will be involved in part of the process. There will be a DofF and techical directors above him that we already know about. This is why Southgate will be deemed as ideal to be The Trainer to just work with the players at Carrington and pick a team from what he has. Just like he does for England.

Amorim is on the market but he prefers 352 and also supposedly wanted full control on player acquisition which proved to be a huge stumbling block for Liverpool and Westham.

I'd prefer him to Tuchel I think but if the above is true that's not going to fit in with our new direction either is it?

We need to get a new manager though. Erik looks totally lost.

Again, Southgate is unfashionable because of his profile and the supposedly "safe" nature of his playing approach. However, Sir Jim's team may view Southgate as the guy to take us to the next phase of our club's progression. Southgate is aware of this and may resist any temptation to return to club football only to be used as the guy to take us to a certain level. Then again he'll never manage a club as big as Utd, ever! The loss will be his irrespective of the pressure, the challenge and lure may be too big to resist.

Does the club reset completely, which also includes a complete overhaul of the squad over a number of windows? That is the conundrum Sir Jim's team must resolve over the summer.

The squad will need a complete overhaul regardless. The dressing room has been shiiiite for years and a big part of that is that standards were allowed to slip and players weren't moved on quickly enough to address it. If we only move on a few each year, then those low standards will remain, regardless of the manager in charge. It's ingrained at this stage

We're never hiring a manager again but a coach and coach alone. No one stands out at this precise moment. I don't think Jim will take your view of "anyone but Eth", he may bide his time until the ideal coach to meet their philosophical approach becomes available.

posted 2 weeks, 3 days ago

Like the supporters, Jim and INEOS also hear the crap TH comes out with after games these days. There's no way they will want to put their new investments into his hands. Ive heard that if he wins the Cup he might get a reprieve but I dont believe that INEOS will change their minds based on just one result, considering the results we are getting this season. Even if it means a trophy. I hope Im right cos I desparately want United to beat City. And I want TH out of the club

Our ills are not going to fixed overnight, if it's ingrained then getting rid of the fabric of the club / team responsible for the poor culture will take time to fix.

I agree the overhaul must begin in earnest and can be done without a manager, Wilcox is ultimately responsible for that. Bar one or two players I would honestly release them all and promote youth. Far too many have been on borrowed time, people like Marcus Rashford, for example.

Agreed. And Rashford would be one of my first out the door too. I'm not one of the morons abusing him on social media but the Belfast incident coupled with other disciplinary issues abd general poor attitude on the pitch means he's symbolic of what I was saying about the dressing room.

It's time for a cull but will we see one? I doubt it, sadly

Balance between cost (don't forget we must adhere to FFP) and causing too much disruption to the first team playing squad must be struck. So a cull over 1 summer is very unlikely even though we've suffered enough and seen many a game over match days to say all the feckers can go!

Let's just wait and see.

The excuses you're making for this manager are really tiresome now. You know you're wrong and have known it for a while and you continue this ridiculous charade.

He's signed a guy for 85m who can't even get close to matching Rashford's numbers in what's been a terrible season for him. He scored his first PL goal today since April 23. 😂 How is this progress?

I felt firing another manager would be pointless as it’s going to be the same problems again, but past few months ETH hasn’t shown any progress what so ever, our football is pathetic, there’s no defensive organisation, no patterns in attack, might as well not have a manager at all as I have no idea what ETH is trying to do.

He’s had long enough and proved that he’s not up to the job. Needs to be a mass clear out in the summer starting with the manager and Rashford.

I think footstats had Man Utd most shots in 04/05 season. Also FA Cup final we mullered Arsenal.

Sort of reminds me of this Man Utd team. Look at the goal count and it looks negative, look at the chance count it looks the best in the world.

I have been right since Nov/Dec though. The club should have sacked him as soon as we finished bottom of that CL group which if we are honest with ourselves should have been relatively straightforward to qualify from.

Standards at the club have been on the floor. Unfortunately they are in the fanbase too as the same old muppets continue to make excuses for him.

He will be gone in a few weeks thankfully and we will be able to move on.

We've covered this ad nauseam, mate, and I don't want this civilised discussion to descend into the usual mud slinging contest.

A club that lends too much into the advise of a "coach" to make its transfer decisions is ultimately blameworthy for hiring a coach and using him as a "manager". It is the club who misunderstood the what the two roles entail and therefore misused Eth. By the same token, Eth knew what he was coming into, he knew Man Utd did but employ a DoF but then again I would not be surprised if Murtough oversold his role at the club!

I blame everyone, even Eth, but the blame is NOT ETH's alone for the reasons outlined.
