Been up against Pep!

Who else? Claudio won the title but was average at Chelsea.

No Dalglish? He dominated English football for the first few years of the PL.

No I mean when he was at Blackburn. Finished 4th, 2nd and 1st.

Pep over Fergie, don’t disagree with the rest. Not sure I put Klopp up there simply as he only won one.

That's just what the cult of Mourinho would have you believe. Ranieri led Chelsea to their best league finish in 50 years. Mourinho took over a perfectly primed side. All he needed to do was the only thing he's good for: add five extra layers of cuuntishness.

I said the only thing he's good for, but that's unfair. He's also the unparalleled master of blowing his own trumpet.

Aside from the fact Pep is far better of course.

posted 2 weeks, 5 days ago

Depends how you define it OP, but Carlo Ancelotti probably at fifth.

posted 2 weeks, 5 days ago

Also Mancini is a good point raised, took a Man City team over the line for the first time in ages and has a ridiculously impressive CV. What he did outside of Man City was exceptional.

Joking aside, Ferguson probably gets it for longevity and how he adapted and overcame various challenges. It always makes me laugh when people say he'd have been left behind by Pep's City. Maybe - but based on what?

He saw off the challenges of Blackburn and Newcastle. Then United were surpassed by Wenger's Arsenal, and the response was to improve to such an extent that the treble happened. Then it was Mourinho's Chelsea. United were third-best for a while, but again emerged to win three PLs in a row and another CL. Then City and their money came along, and Ferguson duly wrested the title back off them in his final season while City were losing the FA Cup to Wigan.

If he adapted and overcame all these challenges, why assume he would not have managed it again? His age is the only persuasive factor really.

Pep will definitely be in the conversation for best-ever though. He's already seen off Klopp with only one title conceded, and it's likely he'll get the better of Arsenal again this season.

Funny, it's like you meant to say it's beyond doubt, but what you're actually implying is that it's debatable.

I will later. I'll still take Klopp

His team from 18-21 time were arguably the best team to actually watch since the Premier League has started. Add this to a title and a 97 point 2nd place and he has to be in the coversation

I don't think Fergie consistently enjoyed the level of squad superiority that Guardiola has at City. In fact, from the point of view of number of points extracted relative to resources at their disposal, I'd say Klopp outperformed Guardiola in the seasons where Liverpool pushed City close (as well as the season when they won).

Ancelotti's Chelsea were far better to watch, and he wasn't included in the OP. Plus he has multiple league titles, CL titles and a host of success wherever he has gone.

Choosing Ancelotti as one of the all-time PL coaches based on his achievements abroad is like nominating George Weah as an all-time PL player based on his legendary years at Milan and presidency of Liberia.

First four are easy

Pep, Fergie, Mourinho and Wenger

posted 2 weeks, 5 days ago

I know the ability to evaluate anything is way above your intelligence level, Mamba.

But as well as Klopp has done his style of football isn't that entertaining. Whereas Ancelotti has a great reputation for his entertaining football and that Chelsea side broke and held the record for goals scored for the longest time. Probably the only succesful Chelsea side that was pleasing to watch.
