But apart from that you're generally happy with the set up.

Very good summary Batts which pretty much nails the complete unbalanced and shockingly injury prone nature of the squad which compared to Ipswich was always going to need a massive stroke of injury free luck but even then I'm not convinced DF wouldn't have found a way to fack it up with 3 or 4 new January players to freshen things up.

I think Norwich will dispatch us over 2 games like Derby did as the pressure at Elland Road will prove too much for this mentally weak group of players Farke has managed to suck the belief out of with his very rigid
immovable and stubborn tactics and character.

Although I'm not feeling too down hearted at missing out on an EPL relegation scrap next season I still would have taken it and genuinely believe if Farke had only started Joseph ahead of Piroe we may have got another 6 or 7 points from our last 8 games. A point at Coventry, 2 against Sunderland 3 against Blackburn plus at least another point at QPR making today a celebratory afternoon but alas Farke couldn't bend from his curious principles which seems to be basing his striker selection by age seniority.

So that I think is that for this season and barring a sizemick improvement in player form and confidence not to mention ability, I wouldn't trust DF next season personally with a squad rebuild and would make a change but we'll see what develops over the coming weeks but like you say big changes either way and hopefully Kinnear will see fit to gracefully exit or be strongly advised to seek employment elsewhere as his continued presence is like a big dark cloud that needs shifting before the club can truly make progress.

shockingly injury prone

———————————————

Dont think we’ve done bad with injuries this season tbh.

Regarding True number 10s, there not many about at all.

Even clubs like liverpool, man city, arsenal dont really have them.

What we suffer from is guile in midfield, we havent had anything.

Was laughing so hard when reading your description of Bamford.
Though it was a bit harsh

From the beginning of the season we already had a longterm injury to Dallas plus the regularly injury prone players Shackleton, Bamford and Gelhardt then we added Darlow, Byram, Spence and Roberts who again have form for being regularly injured and Kamara was known at Rangers for not really being able to play 2 games in quick succession
We then lose along the way Struiyk which was unlucky plus the burn out of the Welsh lads with James inevitably injured and unknown to all of us Rutter had been playing since the beginning of the year at least with hernia issues and clearly since his op his form has fallen off a cliff so I think it's perfectly reasonable to look at the make up of the squad and see there were many red flags

Macca

All teams have injuries, bench been strong all season,

Think we have had less players, injured than previous seasons.

Shame Farke didn't feel the same as you. Never used them.

At the end of the day and it may seem harsh but it's a harsh world but I now think Farke has been the problem and even debating the squad depth and quality etc I really do think Farke would not have been able to get us promoted if we had had 3 or 4 extra new players brought in for DF to select from.

He's blinkered and actually his style is boring tippy tappy
at the back no creativity in a defensive midfield two which is often outnumbered and overwhelmed by the
opposition and just relying on flashes of brilliance from
3 wingers and an injury prone striker mostly this season or recently by playing 4 wingers and hoping for the best.

Leeds and purchasing an injury prone player must warm the cockles of these crocks agents.... like moths to a flame.

Gelhardt was a number 10 in the u23s. He was pretty good there at that level. God knows whats happened to him though.

Great article which made me laugh and feel depressed at the same time.

Im not a huge fan of Bamford but its a fact that we play better when he plays. Hes well passed it of course but we've never signed a true replacement. Piroe has been an awful signing if we are honest. Maybe Joseph is that replacement but we'll never know if we don't play him.

Agree on all other points.

There were times he came on as a sub in prem
And had an influence in games. I think he’s a much better player than Farke thinks. Totally derailed him.

In one of the other threads the treatment of Joffy and Creswell(Anthony to some extent too) is what I meant by freezing out certain players. He has players who he trusts and those he doesn't. He'll say all the right things about them but his actions tell another story.

I do reckon another club will get something out of him.

I’d just like to know wtf happened to our team’s ability and confidence after the international break?

It’s bizarre - the unbeaten run, solid defence, scoring freely, then BAM. Nothing. I don’t get it…

posted 1 week, 6 days ago

Yes - we've got a good injury record this season especially those on the bench. Farke was definitely focusing on that, keep the likes of Joffy, Cresswell and Anthony on the bench and we'll win that award - credit where credit's due, he won that one!

Constantly conceding early, has absolutely killed us.

Side is perfect for counter attacking.

Scored first once in last 8 games

posted 1 week, 6 days ago

Last solid game was away at Plymouth, since then it was character not necessarily good football that got us through i.e Leicester game. The international break killed Rodon, Amps and James mentally and physically and the rest is history.

Farke has made some very poor calls recently, most notably Gruev/Gray MF partnership, might as well have had Cannon and Ball.

Most of the bench could have been moonlighting for all we knew, as they were never going to be seen on the pitch.

I would say a midfield that scores no goals is basically not Championship Standard - needed better.
