Ten Hag is interested in Dutch forward Rajheem van Sterlijng.
Coman loan would be brilliant if ultimately unnecessary.
Still think we will really live to regret not signing a LB on loan, at the very least.

He needs to persuade Antony that he'll never be an elite wideman but that he could be a very useful left back with licence to attack.
Dalot is used often in the build up from that position so it's not like he wouldn't get on the ball.
That's my leftfield shout! We then get a much more direct attacker into the squad.

Do loans have to be made by the end of the transfer window?

There is just one tiny flaw in your cunning plan Baldrick.
It is bollox.
Valencia could play football on the wing before he was converted into a FB.

Valencia was considered pretty basic back in the day but we could really do with someone with his skillset now IMO on the right hand side. We could do with some real pace in wide areas.
Ah, the days when Valencia used to skin the full back and stop dead and look for a backwards pass or alternatively blast a daisy cutter into the nearest opponent’s shins
Ha, yeah Valencia wasn't even a good fullback, drove me mad how he would repeatedly smash the ball into an opponents shins 1 meter away and then look dissapointed it didn't work, seemingly unware this was the 10,347s time he'd failed doing the same thing.

Valencia was also fast and extremely strong and powerful AND played in CM a fair bit for Ecuador. He was very very solid and consistent if unspectacular as RB.

Valencia was pretty basic, but you got a 7/10 performance from him most games. Antony isn't even basic, uses his pace and then goes back on himself and you would be lucky to get a 5/10 performance out of him.
We could also cope having Valencia as we were a title winning squad - this squad isn't at that level, so everyone needs to be of a certain standard.
The Antony at LB idea is for the birds.
To put it bluntly, he needs to be sold. He is not only rubbish in a United shirt, but seems to be a bit of an idiot. He made quite a terrible tackle on the Brighton lad the other day which didn't get too much attention.

He was a very good fullback in terms of defensive solidity and ability to drive forward with pace and power. But the development into his game of "smash it against the first man's shins" when crossing was infuriating.

I dunno, this idea that he was a 'very good fullback' isn't true. We seemed to tolerate it but he wasn't giving us anything offensively (which was ironic seeing as he was a winger) and seemed to frustrate fans most games. Yes he drove forward with pace and power but then did absolutely nothing when he got into the final third. He had heart and effort but there were so many better fullbacks at the time and Valencia stood out in not being anywhere near as good as them.

He was incredibly dependable defensively and always offered an out-ball in attack on the overlap and offering width for a switch of play. Yes his crossing had become terrible but that aside he was an excellent if unspectacular player for us. And he was virtually never injured.
I'm not arguing he's the best FB we've ever had but he'd walk into our squad and probably first team with ease.
