What part of this statement do you disagree with, Boris?

No English manager has ever won the English PL

Will start with that one and have you correct that one first?

Just off the top of my head: Steve Bruce, Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney and Tom Cleverley are all English managers and they have all won the English PL Barry.

I've also won it as a fan

Biggest issue we have is that our keeper plays for Everton....

Granted he get's lots of touches of the ball at club level, but fack me he was appalling last night...truly shocking levels of pathetic positioning & flappy pointless rubbish

Back in the day we've had Clemence Shilton Banks

I suggest we start there....this team is potentially brilliant...spoilt by a poor keeper & probably a slight lack of a genuine big centre half in the Terry Rio Moore mould

England and for that matter Britain in general fails at sports.

Invented rugby and England have only won one World Cup. The other big nations have won it more.

Invented cricket and England have only won one World Cup (which was a fluke final). Other big nations have won it more.

Invented tennis and there has been only one male champion at a slam in 80 odd years. In women's it's one in 40 odd years.

Invented golf and there are a similar lack of champions compared to other nations and we have some of the worst bottlers in it - Montgomery, Westwood

We're quite good in the sports where you get to sit down because it falls into our culture of being lazy and sitting down at the pub drinking - Things like cycling, horse racing, F1, rowing, sailing, boxing (they say you need to sit down on your punches). It's why we're so good in the Paralympics because athletes get to sit down in wheelchairs.

Shilton played for Leicester and Stoke for a big chunk of his England career.
Banks played for Leicester and Stoke during his England career.
Even Clemence was only at Spurs for some of his time as England keeper.

All class keepers though....Pickford isn't...has no presence....anyway club size was a whole different gravy then

So the issue isn't really that he plays for Everton, it is more all England 'keepers are pretty shiiiit.

posted on 11/10/24

Clemence & Shilton were also European Champions

Banks was one of the worlds best

Pickford will never be these

it's a thing that our best keeper (supposedly) plays for a team that's constantly battling relegation

Pickford was shiiite yesterday but is normally solid for England. Playing for a usually rubbish Everton doesn't seem to have had that much effect overall for him in an England shirt. He's definitely one of the more underappreciated players.

As soon as he makes a mistake it's suddenly "he's not good enough for England" by a large majority of fans, forgetting that he's helped us to 2 major finals and been good in penalty shootouts (England's favourite way of going out in the latter stages). If it weren't for Saka's and Rashford's pen misses, his 2 saves would have helped England lift a trophy, then he'd go down as a bit of hero. Instead he's a joke to many, it's weird.

Only 2 of the 6 you named ever won anything for England.

None of the others ever got as close as Pickford has (twice).

Shilton has only just started to dive for Germany's penalties.

When you get back, don't forget to let us know when John Terry's available to take a deciding penalty.

Pickford’s only skill is time wasting to David Raya levels.

Not much use though when you’re chasing the game

That's nothing to get too excited about. They've never even beaten San Marino in a major tournament.

Looking on the bright side Carsley could soon be available to take over at Old Trafford, now that Southgate seems to have ruled himself out.
