The Final: B'desh v Pakistan- Match Thread

This is Bangladesh's first chance in their entire history to win a major trophy, the Asia Cup. It may not seem major outside of the sub-continent, but surely it would be great for cricket, if Bangladesh could win tomorrow?

I expect Pakistan to bring back their natural Wicket Keeper, Sarfraz Ahmed in place of Wahab Riaz, who was brutally attacked at the hands of Virat Kohli’s bat. Bangladesh should remain unchanged.

Bangladesh Team: 1. Tamim Iqbal, 2. Nazimuddin, 3. Jahurul Islam, 4. Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), 5. Shakib Al Hasan, 6. Nasir Hossain, 7. Mahmudullah, 8. Mashrafe Mortaza, 9. Abdur Razzak, 10. Nazmul Hossain, 11. Shahadat Hossain

Pakistan Team: 1. Mohammad Hafeez, 2. Nasir Jamshed, 3. Younis Khan, 4. Umar Akmal, 5. Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), 6. Hammad Azam, 7. Shahid Afridi, 8. Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), 9. Umar Gul, 10. Saeed Ajmal, 11. Aizaz Cheema

Afridi14 Stats :
• The last time Shahid Afridi scored a One Day International hundred it was against Bangladesh in the 2010 Asia Cup. Surprisingly, in that tournament he had scored two consecutive centuries. Afridi scored 233 runs in 136 balls against (SL and B’desh) in that tournament.
• Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul have taken 58 wickets in 33 ODI matches against Bangladesh at an average of 18.9.
• Wahab Riaz’s last international wicket against a Test nation came in April 2011.
• Bangladesh have scored 300+ on only one occasion at home, that was against Kenya in 2006 when they posted a total of 301.
• Shahid Afridi holds the record for most wickets in Bangladesh from an overseas player (28).
• Afridi14 supports a team who conceded 7 GOALS AT HOME against a team fighting for relegation in the Championship. Tut, tut, tut.

kash Cheema is rarely playing in succesive games and probably feels unwanted. He needs to be reassured that he is good enough, which I believe he could be.

But for how long, he's already 32 isn't he.

Pak bowling is OK, but they need to look to the future for young pacers, as they have a good tradition of those, surely someone must be coming through.

JT of course that's true but in the meantime they should handle their current talent better.

I must say even though we won the Asia Cup, our brothers deserved a lot more. They were in my opinion the better team in this tournament. They narrowly lost to us in the first time round, they beat Ind and SL and then lost the final by 2 runs... And, if you think about it the victories over SL and Ind were convincing wins.

Congrats to Pakistan but well played Bangladesh.

Bangladesh deserve something from this tournament & i believe they did & that is respect from around the world with their great showing in this tournament.
They were awesome to watch & in the end i felt sorry for them not winning but they will get better.

I hope they go from strength to strength. They have a great coach in Stuart Law & a great talented team & great passionate fans behind them.

For Pakistan they have come a long way since the aftermath of 2010 but they still have along way to go.

Pakistan still need to improve their bowling & batting but the team will hopefully improve further under Dav Whatmore.

I think Pak play Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka next before the big one vs Saffas.

Bangladesh played well, but I think that was more down to Pakistan being nervous.

The gap between Asian trio and Bangladesh has lessened a bit in my opinion. Thanks to 3 Asian giants boasting absolute spineless pace attacks.
