The Yak

Following his brilliant goal return for the Rovers this year and taking into his account his career goal-scoring record do you think we will struggle to hold onto the Yak at the end of this season? What fee would he command?

From the word go he has looked dangerous and very threatening and the clinical and calm way with which has taken some of his goals have been absolutely top class.

We have struggled at times to give him quality service and decent chances, but as the song goes, when we do, he normally hits the target, works the keeper and finds the corners.

Obviously he would score goals in a better team and I would have thought he was one that a few managers were looking at as a relatively cheap, proven goal-scoring option.

At the start of the season one Everton fan described him as a 'near stationery unit'...... I know what he meant but who cares when the guy is ice cool when it matters from 10 yards out.

Junior, Nzonzi, the Yak and maybe even Robbo will be on others clubs radar this summer. Let's hope VenKean have plans to try and keep some of the players who can command a decent fee, but don't hold your breath!

Down to the Yak- if he wants to go he will. Anyone offering £4M+ and Venky's will probably pay for the taxi as well!

I don't think we have anything to offer a player over and above any other team in this division (bar Wigan/Wolves) so we are relatively easy picking.

I have the strangest feeling that he will stay once the season is up OOJW.

Morning DoubleD. I hope so mate, I have enjoyed watching him this year and he remains cool as a cucumber whoever we play, giving us a chance in all matches as shown away at United.

Morning to you too OOJW. Or afternoon rather, now.

I think he'll stay. I can see many clubs vying for his ability, but only us that will keep in a 'home'. Media outlets have a tendency to over-sensationalise things. I think he's intelligent enough to see beyond all that nonsense.

He's loved and respected here. Perhaps I'm just holding onto a shard of hope, but I would hope that he sees the best in all of our situation, and stay.

Do you have any work on OOJW? I'm quite stuck.

No sorry mate. Paying my bills, but that is it. Have just let a staff member go who did not respect the fact he was gainfully employed and was acting accordingly. He will discover just how tought it is out there when looking for new work!

Tough call to make, but at the end of the day you have to make sure what is best for yourself.

The Yak has been successful because Kean has played to his strengths. Moyes obviously saw him in a different light.

The Yak certainly needs somebody else to do the running. Junior has enjoyed playing behind him and both may find it harder in another environment.

It'll certainly be difficult to replace Hoilett if he does go. A younger Dunn might have been good enough, but I think he is now too static as well as being injury prone.
I've noticed that Orr has put in one or two tempting crosses too.
