Video footage of the Danns red card

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v613/davieg/LCFC/?action=view¤t=danns.mp4

You could make all sort of arguments about intent and whether or not it was two footed, but Danns took the player and not the ball.

I don't think any appeal would be successful with this one. Shame as Danns was really coming into form, but it'll be a 4 game ban as he was sent off earlier in the season.

This is Madness,

It does show how difficult the game is to ref as I was convinced it wasn't a red during the game. It's a shame that common sense can't prevail sometimes and perhaps Danns might have escaped with a yellow. You could argue, however, the case for the straight red.

It's true that we have had poor refs this season and some decisions have been diabolical. It also seems we haven't been lucky very often and when we've given the ref an excuse to wield the red card he's been straight in there. The only one we seem to have gotten away with was the Konchesky one against Swindon.

Thanks Joby.
No point appealing however:
1.Is the ball under the Hull players control ?
2.And does the Hull player slide in as well ?
I think:
1. No
2. Yes

I hate this season. I think we can all see there is cause for the sending off do no appeal worthwhile. However, I don't think it was malicious and I wish refs could show some common sense and treat each incident individually.

Weird how thins change though. 10 games ago I would have shrugged my shoulders at Danns being out. Now I see him as the key element to making our fragile midfield tick.

How quickly things change in football.

100% that both Danns' feet were off the ground. 100% that both the Hull player's feet were off the ground.

The ref should have sent both or neither off. More poignant; a few minutes prior to this tackle there was a two footed tackle against a Leicester player on the touchline near the West Stand which wasn't even given as a foul, and no doubt will never, ever be replayed.

The linesman on the same side was absolutely atrocious for the whole game. For example, there was at least four blatant foul throws he didn't give. I a sick to death of moaning about incompetent officials; do they, and FIFA, really expect to see more respect shown in their direction.

PS - Fryatt was arrogant and discourteous after his goal, and Hobbs was a completely overactive prat after the sending off.

PPS - Hull fans were awful considering.

Danns got himself sent off not the Ref.

He leapt into the air both feet off the ground with no idea what the out come was going to be.

The Hull player has the lost control of the ball and was trying to recover leading with one leg.

No choice under the present rules.

Look at it the other way if a player dived in on one of ours risking a serious injury to a team mate what would be the reaction of our players?

I agree totally with Nev, the ref had no choice and I'd be extremely surprised if an appeal was even considered.

My understanding is that intent to cause injury isn't the issue but the rules are about dangerous play likely to cause injury and to prevent it, it certainly was that!

Agree that under the rules, it was a red – refs don't seem allowed to use discretion any more.

This is our 9th red of the season, which I think is 2 more than anyone else in the division. This sits strangely with the fact that as a team, we've conceded less than 10 fouls per game on average (I think about 360 in total) – ie we're not by any means a 'dirty side'.

Nine reds that about two seasons worth!
I think we are not bothering with a bookable foul and going for a straight red!!

Is that nine before some were rescinded or after?

The stats are from the Football league, but Beckford's red is still included for some reason, so it's only 8.
Brighton also have 8 now after Sat.
