Afternoon guys
I know we were 'linked' with Jose Mourinho a while ago, but this articles not about that.
In Spain they call playing two defensive midfielders (like say the Alonso-Mascherano pairing at Liverpool) a "doble pivote". It's considered a defensive formation. Mourinho one-upped it by introducing three defensive midfielders (usually Alonso-Lass-Khedira, but sometimes Pepe has been used as well), leading to this new term being coined, "el trivote". It's looked upon with disdain in Spain as ultra-defensive, a ridiculous strategy when you have brilliant creative midfielders like Ozil (who is less effective on the RW), Kaká and Granero.
My question to Spurs fans and to others is, would you like Mourinho as a manager if it meant playing this way?

Just had a quick look at La Liga table - Real have scored 95 goals to Barca's 84 and are 6 points clear...
----------------
But our striker force are Ade, Defoe and (RRP's best-mate) Saha......

It always strikes me as weird that most journalists and pundits believe that we insist on playing attractive football. Whilst that is a great bonus i don't think it's true. I would say most spurs fans want to win, whichever style we play. It's just another one of those made up nonsense quotes that are down in part to the Danny Blanchflower comments about the game being first about glory. Whilst he's right, they were also very successful and i'd happily put glory on the back-burner for some sustained success for once.
Football is evolving. It's virtually impossible to play really attractive football and turn out results constantly. Only Barca can do it, and they have been blessed with the greatest talent of all time coming through together.
Bring on Jose i say!!!!

People seems to always forget Mourinho NEEDS to spend quite an amount of money before achieving an success.

Not nonsense. Reality.
The Spurs sides of the 80s had players who played in a certain way. The collective result of that play was success (silverware) , and high league placings.
That is the "Spurs way" .
In times when the team has collectively not been successful, there have still been players who played in a certain manner (Hoddle, Ginola etc) .

It has been claimed that was not the case at Porto (grandspur blah blah via reading Joses' biography) . And as grandspur stated, the fact that he can do it without money pits, and whether he would be willing to do it AGAIN, is another story.

"I can see Jose being attracted by this"
IMHO he is too far along the "never doing that again" route, due to the moneypits at Chelsky and Madrid.
Still think Pep would see it more as an intellectual challenge after Barca (especially as the Spurs academy level etc seems to be miles away from the english hoofball / bigger = better mentality) .
